i receive quite a few questions here at style at a certain age about my hair. first off, i have a wonderful stylist by the name of Karmen that keeps me at the top of my game. i found Karmen a little over a year ago when i was on the hunt for a new hairdresser after my previous hairstylist became engaged and moved to NYC. i’m certain many of you can relate to the fact that it’s hard to try out new stylists – the results can run the gamut from spectacular to disastrous. right before i sat in Karmen’s chair at Mercer Street Salon i was suffering from one of the worst haircuts of my life. so you can imagine my joy after my first haircut from this talented style maven. however, as my husband always reminds me, nothing is everlasting, and last week i had my last haircut with Karmen for a few months. you see, Karmen is expecting her first baby – a boy, and she will be out on maternity leave for several months. while a part of me is quite dismayed at having to bid adieu to Karmen for the time being, my heart rejoices in what is in store for the marvelous young woman! so bear with me while i give a brief montage of my hairstyle over the past year before i reveal my new do later this week. it’s sort of swan song before i book my first appointment with mike sometime in early november. the first photo is the hairdo by my previous stylist pre-Karmen, the second photo is my disaster of a haircut by an interim stylist that shall remain nameless, then it’s my first ‘do’ from Karmen, transitioning over the past year to my current asymmetrical cut.

I can see why you are excited for Karmen and at the same time just a bit sad for yourself – her haircuts are GREAT!!!
I shall now book my next haircut just in time for our lunch in a few weeks! 🙂
can’t wait to see! yes, karmen is pretty fab. i’m going to miss sitting in her chair, but now i have the opportunity to meet another wonderful stylist.

I suspect you would look stunning with ANY haircut, but I must say, that sexy side part is heavenly on you. I’m anxiously awaiting the reveal! (My great stylist left to have a baby as well, came back only for a few weeks, and then left permanently! So I know what you mean about those changes…) xo
you’re sweet, d.a.! i’m thankful i have head of healthy hair. and we’ve gone much shorter for my current ‘do’. have you found a new stylist yet? or are you still on the hunt? i rank hairstylists along with a dentist and doctor – you need to have a trustworthy one!
