this time of year it’s nice to have an outfit that can seamlessly take you from nine-to-five to after hours. the dress i have on for today’s ootd does just that. first off, a simple sheath dress can take you just about anywhere, its versatility can’t be beat. but add a few fun details, and its sophistication transforms. the two-tone color scheme of black and grey is perfect for this time of year. check out the lengthwise zipper on the right side. this is just the sort of finishing touch that keeps this classic sheath looking modern and fresh. for a daytime look the zipper is zipped tight. for evening, it’s unzipped to reveal a tulle inset. how chic is that? for a work appropriate look i added a black leather blazer, suede boots, and a gray and burgundy scarf for a pop of color. a structured handbag keeps the outfit looking polished. when the clock strikes five o’clock (the official cocktail hour) the blazer slips off, the boots are exchanged for red suede pumps, the scarf turns into a wrap, and i grab a red clutch. add a necklace with a few baubles, and in a matter of minutes i’m transformed into evening elegance. no muss, no fuss. exactly what i like on a hectic work day chock full of appointments.
