now & then: how i wore my favorite pant of the summer in the fall

we’re continuing on with our new series now & then.  in case you’ve missed where all we’ve been this week, make sure to check out the first two installments of this new series: how i wore a jumpsuit and how i wore a denim sheath dress.  i have to admit, though, i’m most excited about today’s post, because we’re featuring my favorite pant of the summer.  as my regulars know, sometimes i just like to go big and bold:  color pops and pattern drops.  i first wore these pants a little over a month ago during my vacation to Tybee Island.  they’re making their second appearance on the blog today to show you how easy it is to transition summer clothing into fall.   so without any further ado, here’s how i wore my favorite my favorite pant of the year in both the summer and fall.

then

first up is an ootd (outfit of the day) thatโ€™s as comfy as it is chic. and whatโ€™s better than a drawstring waist? especially when youโ€™re on vacation. and yโ€™all know i love a bold patterned pant. this pair is from J.Crew who always delivers one or two silk pants each season. since this pant has a multitude of colors splashed across it pick a color any color to add to the mix. but if you want to play it safe a white tee is the way to go.

i love, love, love this pant—my favorite pant of the year actually.  it’s just so darn fun.  and who doesn’t need a little fun in 2020? it’s not animal print per se but rather printed animals .   and we all know you can’t get any more comfortable than a pair of silk pants.  and to prove to you just how easy it is to transition them into fall:  just swap the tee for a fall sweater.  and. there. you. have it.  obviously this look won’t work in deep fall when the temps really drop, but if you live in a climate like Athens, GA where we still have a few high 70s/low 80s days ahead of us, you’re good to go.

Love the mustard yellow of your sweater! One of my all time favorite colors. Also love your nail polish. Could you share brand and colo name? It is the kind of shade I wear through Fall and Winter.

Love the summer to fall transition and the sweater you chose is perfect! Yarrow reflects the season perfectly and it carries the pants into Fall. So many options with patterned pants. Splendid post!

    Hi Beth,
I spent some time yesterday with Lyric and I am delighted I did. The result is such an improvement. I am going to let my bangs grow out, but that will take some time. My husband, Pete, went with me to drop me off and come back to pick me up. He is so pleased with it. The whole afternoon was time well spent. Thank you for the referral. Have a good week. Stay well. Hugs, Peg

    Love these two outfit looks!

I love these wild and crazy pants, just the thing to lift spirits. I love the golden yellow colors in Fall. I don’t know if they look that good on me but I wear what I love so if I love a color I wear it. Drawstrings are great.

Hmmmm … you must have read my mind !
Your posts are so helpful . I was shopping my closet for outfits to “transition” to fall.
I chose a mustard colored bag/flats to add some pizazz to my patterned black and white capris . Gold and black jewelry .
I do enjoy these posts and I thank you for sharing ideas ! โค๏ธ

Those silk pants look so comfortable! I love this look. What material is the sweater? I did not see in the description. I love this series, Beth. Thank you.

It’s so interesting that you say pant instead of pants, is that a midwest thing?
I’m at my mom’s in the upstate of South Carolina today and the weather is perfection. 100% rain tomorrow, but today is making up for that.
I like how you styled these pant(s). I’m too petite at 5’1.5″ to get away with that large print but the colors are fab!

  12. Kathleen McDermott

Cutest pants ever. (Animals are such a joy.) Sweater so perfectly makes them fall appropriate. (And so many sweater colors to choose from!)

  13. Jane McCourt

    Hi Beth,

I love how you picked up the mustard in those bold patterned pants. Your hair looks so great short and I think it makes you look younger. I like the darker color on your fingers and toes. It looks like a dark neutral. I’d love to know what shade it is.

    Take care!

    Jane

I am enjoying your restyling for fall series. Great idea!!

  15. I love this fall look especially!

Hi Beth, I love you on utube and now I’m enjoying you on my email. Sorry for your loss. I know what that is like for I’ve have had losses in my life. Work and time and friends, and family helps. Like you, I am a firm believer in fashion and have loved cloths since I was a babe in the woods. I can not live without my lipstick. I also like the classic style and share your views on what and how to wear cloths. Keep up the good work. Sincerely, Sandi

  17. Linda De Miller

Love your new cut and those pants! That is a great idea with the linen sweater and that cool medallion necklace. I love the purple toes, too.

  18. Fabulous and versatile trousers, love the print and how bright they are.
