it’s hard to overstate how much i love the preppy aesthetic. we talk about it all the time over here on the blog. just a last month, we featured a fresh take on a preppy summer look. today’s no different, as we’re taking a classic preppy look and injecting a little bit of new life into it. so here’s how to dress perfectly preppy.

there are a lot of ways to dress preppy: from a tweed blazer and jeans to penny loafers and plaid pants, the combinations are endless. i have played with and continue to play with that base look by mixing and matching color and pattern combinations. today, we’ve taken a classic combination: a polo shirt, plaid pants and Sperry sneakers and turned it on its head just a bit.

we’re featuring a linen blend sweater polo from Banana Republic paired with blue plaid pants (here, here, here, and here) and Sperry sneakers. a classic look injected with new life through a fresh color combination: black on blue instead of say a more traditional white on gray or even blue on black. goes to show you that a simple color swap can take an old favorite you’ve worn time and again and breath new life into it.
