happy Monday ladies! it’s a new week, and style at a certain age is back at it. over the past few weeks, i’ve had the opportunity to return to my fashion roots. for my regulars, y’know that that means preppy. for my new followers, guilty as charged: i’m an inner prep. now that fall is in full swing, it’s so easy to dress the part. with the leaves turning and my leg feeling better than ever, i find myself pulling out a pair of crisp khakis and a warm sweater and heading outside. i’m so thankful i can take oscar for walks again. keeping that spirit, today we’re showing you how to dress preppy this fall.
we’re featuring mostly Talbots today. i’m loving these relaxed chinos: the embroidered elephant is so fun. and if you know me, you know how much i love animal prints. i’ve paired the pants with an olive mockneck sweater. olive is a perfect fall color and goes exceptionally well with anything khaki. that’s why i pulled in this khaki collared jacket and matching slip-ons. (one of my favorite pair of shoes this fall!) try as you might, today’s OOTD is such a tried and true combination, it’s almost impossible not to look good in it.

if and when you wear primary neutrals, it’s always good to spice things up a bit. one easy way to do this is with your accessory choices. IMO, my camo tote bag pushes this outfit over the top. throwing in an interesting pattern overtop a basically plain base creates visual interest. (but if a color pop is more of your thing, you can easily add a red, orange, or yellow bag to make today’s OOTD really shine.)

Oh how I love fall clothes! I love sweaters, jackets, vests and any color that reminds me of the beautiful Autumn colors on the trees. I live in southwest Michigan and towards the end of this week our high temps will be in the 50’s. I really don’t care for the snow that will follow in a relatively short time, but for now…bring on fall…my favorite time of the year!
Ooh…love this ootd! And guess what? I have that jacket and sweater!
Excited for cooler weather to enjoy wearing fall outfits.
I love your glasses.
Have a great week. Hello October!🍂
it’s such a versatile jacket. i’ve worn it quite a bit in recent weeks. can’t believe it’s almost october! hello pumpkin spice.
i’m with you, judy! give me all the sweaters, jackets, vests, scarves, boots. the list goes on and on.
You rock those glasses!
thank you! i always get so many compliments whenever i wear these glasses!
Beth, love this look!! The colors are great! I also like the preppy look and have for years. I think it’s a classic style, that’s why we can wear things year after year.
you are so right, paula!
Blazers and now this – there really is a heaven! My mother and I have always had a penchant for elephants and those chinos are beyond precious. Even with my shorter legs I could get away with those – might even sleep in them.
So wonderful to hear you are back out for walks – slow but sure wins the race. By next year you won’t know it happened. Enjoy all the wonderful fall air đź‘Ź
aren’t these chinos adorable? couldn’t resist having a little fun.
Hi, What size is the jacket you are wearing?
a size medium
Usually I think your outfits are very nice, I think this one ages you. Talbots does classics well, but sometimes there’s a fine line between classic and old lady! I am guilty of owning my fair share of Talbots items
I love the preppy look too and just ordered some new olive pieces. That’s always an adventure in color. You never know what you will get. I think the elephant pants are fabulous. On the Coast we don’t get much color change but there is this one tree that turns bright red. The popcorn tree.
olive green is such a soothing color. and it can act as a neutral which is a win/win.
Beth, I really like your glasses in today’s post. Could you do a post on how to choose glasses that are flattering for the face In terms of both style and color?
Thanks!
