I know I know many of us groan when it’s time to go swimsuit shopping or have given up altogether. But take heart! I know there is a swimsuit that’s perfect for you. I’ve selected a pretty wide variety of swimsuits to inspire your shopping list, from full-coverage bikinis and one-pieces to a swim dress or swim skirt that offers a little more coverage. Remember, you don’t need a beach bod to go to the beach. Part of living a vibrant, healthy life is heading outdoors when the sun is shining. I don’t know about you, but I love to spend time at the pool or on the beach.

Swimsuit shopping can be anxiety-inducing, but it can also be really fun and energizing when you know what style fits you best.
Personally, I think two-piece suits are easier to navigate than one-piece suits when it’s time to head to the restroom. Wet one-piece suits can be challenging at times. I’ve struggled a time or two to get my wet once piece back in place.
J.Crew is definitely one of my favorite places to shop for swimsuits. First, they’re well-made and typically have a matching coverup to elevate your poolside chic factor. Second, they offer a wide variety of solid colors or cheerful patterns. I own several J. Crew one-piece suits from a ruched bandeau swimsuit in light blue to a hot pink one-shoulder ruched swimsuit. And I’m a big fan of J.Crew coverups! There are a variety of silhouettes, from beach shirts in a variety of colors and patterns to gauze beach dresses to beach shorts to sarongs to relaxed beach pants. You name it, J.Crew’s got it! They also have a nice selection of men’s swimwear and kids' swimwear, too. And they also offer well-made sandals that can go to the pool or beach with ease.
Lands’ End is another retailer known for well-made swimsuits. Last year, I chose this black one-shoulder one-piece for a Lands’ End collaboration. This year, I’m working on an Instagram partnership and chose this one piece brown suit and paisley pareo.
If you love a modest swimsuit then Lands’ End has a multitude of suits made just for you. Swimdresses, MiracleSuits, Plus Size, Mastectomy, Tummy Control, Chlorine Resistant, Swim Shorts and Tankinis. Phew! That’s a lot of choices.
La Blanca is another swimwear brand I love due to its quality and fit. Nordstrom always has a nice selection. For my trip to the Ritz Carlton, I chose this multi-color bandeau suit with a tie-back and paired it with a crochet cover-up. If you want to be on trend this year, crochet is the name of the game!

Yep, even at 65, I still wear two-piece swimsuits, so I couldn’t resist this adorable swimsuit from Trina Turk with a halter tie bikini top and high-waisted bottom. The pattern also comes in a one-piece swimsuit.
Last year, for a Nordstrom collaboration, I chose this colorful Sunlit Soiree one-piece suit and matching coverup that's still available. It came along with me to Mexico!
Cover-ups are a must, especially on vacation. If you have to stroll through the lobby or any other public space in a hotel, your swimsuit must be under wraps. So why not have a beautiful, coordinating cover-up to go along with your swimsuit? Or, choose a gauzy beach dress, shorts or pants. Sarongs or pareos are also a good choice and can be tied in multiple ways.
Below, I have curated boutiques for Coverups, sunhat, straw totes, sandals and sunglasses – all perfect for your beach getaways this season!

When I head to the beach or pool, I always bring a hat for extra sun protection. A straw fedora looks great with swimsuits or shorts, and floppy hats with a wide brim are also good options and extra points if they are packable floppy hats. Baseball caps or bucket hats are my favorite options for the beach as they have a snug fit, and visors work, too.
Straw or canvas totes are a vacation or summer must-have. I like one that’s big enough to hold sunglasses, sunscreen, a beach towel, a portable speaker, magazines or paperback books, and a water bottle, snacks too.
Sandals are a stylish and practical way to keep our tootsies safe from hot concrete or sand. Thongs are easy to slip in and out of and can easily tuck inside your tote when lounging on your chaise.
And, yes, our eyes need to be protected from the harmful UV rays of the sun. Sunglasses are a must-have when it’s time to head poolside.

Such wonderful colors! Beautiful! You look great in these suits!
Thank you! There are so many cute swimsuits this year!
Thank you for this beautiful post about swimsuits over 60– 70-or 80! I remember the first time we vacationed in the Caribbean. I was the youngest person on the beach in a one-piece- those “across the pond” ladies were rocking bikinis and asking who cares. I agree that two-piece suits are so much easier in the restroom! I bought my first and last miracle suit, and it was a miracle I ever got it off! LOL. I love a tankini or a higher-rise bikini–and those cover-ups are great!
That’s my attitude! Who cares?! And, you’re right about the Miraclesuit. I feel the same way sometimes with Spanx. It’s a lot of work to get off and on just to “look” a few pounds slimmer…
Thanks for stopping by!
Wow, bikini babe. It’s so nice to see a slightly more mature lady in such. All great choices.
So many cute suits this year!
