Embracing the monochromatic trend is a chic, fashion-forward formula with many benefits. A monochromatic outfit, which is essentially an ensemble created with just one color, is a versatile fashion choice. The possibilities are endless, whether you opt for black, navy, grey, pink, red, or yellow. Monochromatic outfits can be casual or dressy, suitable for any time of year (pastels in the spring and autumnal tones in the fall), and they don’t require much effort to put together.
Today, I have two monochromatic outfits to share with you. One that starts with a matching red shell and pants with a contrasting tweed blazer and another that’s head-to-toe white.

I shop repeatedly at Ann Taylor because they have an excellent selection of blazers, and I typically have at least one hanging in my closet.

One tip for putting together a monochromatic outfit is to incorporate different textures. Notice how the red shell, pants, and tweed blazer add visual interest, depth, and dimension.

But the BIG bonus of a monochromatic outfit is that it creates a seamless look from head to toe that visually elongates your body and looks trés chic.

Creating a monochrome look for the office can be a statement-making choice. An all-white look with trousers and a blazer can transform your workwear from ho-hum to stunning. But don't feel pressured to buy new pieces. If you have all the components for an all-black or all-navy outfit in your closet, you're ready to go. It’s like having a shopping spree without spending a dime.

But take a look at this casual chic monochromatic outfit from J. McLaughlin that starts with a white twill blazer. Add wide-leg pants that are trending this year and grasscloth sandals that are as comfy as they are cute. I chose a strapless top to tuck underneath the blaze, but a white tee, white blouse, or even a lightweight white sweater would be great choices.

If you’re headed out on date night or a weekend getaway, why not try a short suit (shorts, top, and blazer), which is all the rage this year? It’s an elevated look without going over the top. Add a crystal peacock handbag and grasscloth sandals, and you are ready for a night on the town.
