When I was in Europe last month, I was conscience of the women wearing midi skirts and boots. It’s a winning combination that will keep you warm during the winter months with the addition of tights. Yet, a skirt and boots look modern and fresh, especially in the States, since many of us have abandoned this outfit in favor of loungewear or jeans. In my humble opinion, sweater dresses, midi skirts, and boots are a great addition to your winter wardrobe. Much like dresses when the temperatures begin to soar in the summer.

But I’m also a big fan of faux leather skirts like this pencil skirt from J.Crew that can be dressed up or down. Today, I paired it with a cashmere crewneck from J.Crew and suede kitten heel boots from Ann Taylor. It creates a monochromatic outfit all on its own. Add a camel faux leather blazer into the mix, and the outfit becomes a bit more interesting. Brown and black is a color combo borrowed straight from the boys and looks chic and sophisticated.
