good morning, ladies. it’s the first monday of the first month in 2021. let’s seize the day, the month, and the year. and if we’re going to do all three, we might as well throw in a leopard coat that’s classic, timeless, and all sorts of fun. it makes a statement all on its own. leopard is classic and timeless, you ask? if you take a page from style icons from years gone by like jackie kennedy or audrey hepburn, you will see them spotted in leopard. pardon the pun. fashion can be fickle, but not when it comes to leopard or any animal print for that matter. why? because they act like neutrals. take a look at this leopard coat. it’s brown, beige, and black, a neutral palette indeed but with a little edge. so today we’re going to see how to wear leopard with glen plaid, another timeless and classic pattern.
if you’re taking baby steps with your style, you might want to start with small doses of this classic print. add a leopard scarf, shoes, or boots even a leopard handbag or belt to your wardrobe to try it on for size. animal print accessories are just as eye-catching as a coat.
today, i’m sporting this oh so affordable leopard coat from Walmart last seen here. the first go-round, i dressed the coat down with blue jeans and a red sweater. the second time around, i’m dressing the coat up with classic wardrobe staples that work well from nine-to-five or even a weekend brunch. a black turtleneck is paired with glen plaid pants from Ralph Lauren (old, similar here). for contrast, i threw on a croc-embossed belt that adds texture and polish. brown suede boots (old, similar here, here, and here) go perfectly with the glen plaid pants, but black would be a good choice too. footwear is an easy component to change. and to chase away the chill with pizazz, the leopard coat is the pièce de résistance to this ootd. anyone notice the subtle pattern mix? yes, it’s perfectly fine to combine patterns. in fact, this simple tactic keeps the outfit modern and fresh. while many handbags will go with this neutral palette, i chose a simple camera bag from J.Crew with a pop of red. leopard and red go together like peanut butter and jelly.

These clothes/styles are fun to look at…where do you go to wear them???
at the moment, i still manage to squeeze in a lunch or dinner at a local restaurant – they need our support. then there’s the dermatologist and the grocery store and whatever else comes up on my schedule. and, yes, i follow all the protocols put in place by the government.
Beth, I totally agree! I wear scrubs all day working in health care so when I have a day off, I love to wear my “real clothes” when I’m out and about even if it’s just running an errand or two. I have to get dressed regardless, so I might as well wear something fun and fabulous! It makes me feel happy and confident. . Of course, once I’m back home the comfy clothes are put back on!
I love your blog and classic style!
and that’s the point of fashion – to feel fun and fabulous, happy, and confident. i so appreciate you being here!
Happy 2021, Beth! Renewed my ticket for this year’s SAACA journey! I agree. Leopard elevates. A face mask with the right leopard print draws my eye to the lady wearing it right away. You look great in that coat! Like you, we are able to dine out rather freely in our region, following rules as outlined. And I do dress my best for that or for errands. People notice. Sometimes their compliments include that it makes them feel good to see us. Small step, big impact is what I say. Have a wonderful week~
you are so right, sylvia! not only do we feel better when we put our best foot forward but we brighten other people’s day.
happy 2021!
One of my favorite ootd. I’m way too short to pull this look off, but on you it is gorgeous!!!
this particular coat would be too long on you but if you shop the petite department you will find the right proportions for your body.
I couldn’t really see the pattern on the pants but I knew what you were wearing. I’ll have to try the pattern mix. I’m viewing this on an old iPad. Red looks beautiful with leopard.
I have appointments with the doctor for semi annual exams and the eye doctor but we are not going out to eat. We do order take out so we are lending support. I miss being able to shake someone’s hand ive just met or hugs from my family. Hopefully this year will improve as we get closer to Spring. We will appreciate just getting our life back to normal. I won’t complain again about being bored.
each of us is making the best choices for our lives. the good news is that the vaccine is now being incorporated with front line workers first – as it should be.
Lovely look . Happy New Year to you and trust that this is a better year for us all . You just made my mind up to buy a Leopard Coat but as I live in a hot climate I think that I am going to go with a silk one. Had my eye on it for a long time but you just made up my mind. Thanks
oooohhhh, a silk leopard coat sounds divine!
I loved this coat the first time you wore it but hesitated buying it as I am a Summer. This time I couldn’t resist! I’ll wear it with jewel-tones which look so beautiful with leopard. Can’t wait for it to arrive! I’ve had great luck with Walmart purchases. Also previously bought all 4 varieties of the tiny purse you got from Walmart. Sweetest little purse ever. Thank you for keeping your fabulous blog going! You are a great!
isn’t that teeny tiny handbag the best?! and you will love the coat! enjoy.
