hello wednesday, and hello beautiful weather. yes, the skies are blue again with the sun shining overhead. as a matter of fact, the landscapers are working on my yard again. can you say excited for spring? ‘cuz this spring i will have a beautiful backyard to enjoy. when the project wraps up, i will share photos of the yard. before and after. it’s always a process to get to the finish line. let me tell you, oscar and his muddy paws have been my latest trial… the upstairs carpets have taken a beating even after his paws are dipped in warm water and wiped off with a towel. that red clay of Georgia is something else! but i digress. today, i’m kicking up my heels and sharing how to wear white sneakers.
what shoe is a timeless classic? well, the white sneaker ranks up there with a white shirt and white tee. it’s an essential building block to a classic wardrobe. much like a nude heel, a classic white tennis shoe is your go-to sneaker as they look fantastic with everything from dresses to cuffed jeans. if you fret over how to keep them clean, mr. clean magic eraser will come to your rescue, especially if your tennies are leather.
today’s ootd has one foot squarely in winter another foot in spring. yes, i busted out a beloved pair of Stan Smith sneakers today. who remembers when these babies arrived on the fashion scene? this iconic sneaker debuted in 1963 when athletes were transitioning from canvas to leather sneakers. a few years later, it was branded by french tennis star Roger Haillet then Adidas officially rebranded the shoes Stan Smiths after Pasadena born Stanley Roger Smith in 1978. my favorite rendition of this sneaker is white with the traditional Stan Smith logo in green. i wore those tennies all through college and beyond. this go-round, i’m sporting all white.
dark rinse denim from J.Crew (i’m wearing a size 29 for sizing purposes) and classic white sneakers are all right with me. add a cute camo sweater (size medium) from Banana Republic last seen here for warmth, a white button-down that ties back to the sneakers, and a knit topper (old, similar here, here, and here) keep this outfit modern, fresh, and relevant. because who wants to look dated and stodgy? not i, said the little red hen.

it’s Wednesday, gang, time to put a smile on someone’s face, including yours.

Speaking of the red Georgia clay and white sneakers..lol.
How do you have success with ordering with waist sizes? I have never had very good luck trying to match my 10-12 usual size. ( not trying clothes on at this time).
when i know how a brand fits (i typically shop from the same brands) then it’s easier to shop online.
but it can be a challenge when a brand is new to me as i might have to order two sizes then send
one back. that’s when free shipping comes in handy.
Beth, your posts are a pleasure to read. I enjoy them so much, especially during this past unusual year…thank you! Your information is fantastic, and your “voice” in the posts is so uplifting! You’re the best:)
from another Beth in GA
i so appreciate you being here!
Just love jeans and white tennis shoes!

Love this post. Love classic white tennis. Most of all, love your sense of balance in the pic with your left leg high and your right arm out. Way to go, Beth! ~
all those workouts pay off! but my high kicks aren’t so high anymore. but a girl’s gotta try.
I enjoy you site very much. It would be great if you could focus and identify American made products that you feature.
thanks so much! but since i reside in the USA all of my products are sold or are shipped from here.
I guess you could say white sneakers are your jam??? 😉
i do like a pair of white kicks!
HI Beth! So funny; I just ordered a pair of Keds “kickstart” canvas sneakers that have a cute rainbow stitching on the sides. In Upstate New York we are having an early March thaw and it feels like Spring!! Time to think about all those fun warmer weather looks and these sneakers will go with many Spring outfits. I also purchased Light pink wide leg crop jeans and pale yellow chinos to start the season colorfully!
that sounds divine!
I recently bought a pair of white leather Triple Kick Keds. Really comfy. Love your style. I really identify with all your choices. I have even had 6 German Shepherds over the years. Another favorite.
love keds!
Hi Beth can we see some dress and skirt outfits with white tennis shoes plse.
BTW you’re looking fantastic!
From Judy in Australia
we’re headed into spring and summer when i wear more skirts and dresses. stay tuned.
Love the sneakers look, but do you know who would sell narrow (width) shoe. I have a hard time locating shoes. Thanks
Hi, Ardelia. I have narrow feet, too. I have the best luck with Nordstrom and Zappos. I was also surprised to find quite a few choices on Macy’s website recently. Do you have any favorite sites to share for narrow shoes?
Spring is coming!!! Always love the fashion history lessons. Great to see your knee surgery had come full circle! Enjoy the outdoors Beth!
thanks, sangita! it feels good to be healthy again.
