mad for plaid

gingham is to summer what fall is to plaid, which is why this time of year i’m mad for plaid. it’s easy to see why as plaid is as abundant as pumpkins once fall rolls into town. last week i wore a pair of plaid pants and a burgundy sweater. this week i’m changing the formula to a plaid skirt with the same burgundy sweater. isn’t the autumnal color palette swoon-worthy? if you live north of the mason-dixon line, then you would blend into the rich hues of oranges, scarlets, and browns that nature is dishing up. even down here in Georgia, the trees are turning brilliant shades of yellow and orange. and i’m loving every minute.

guess what else fall is famous for? or should i say fall fashion? yes, ladies, boot season has arrived. whether you favor booties, knee-high boots, or over-the-knee boots, there is a boot calling your name. i don’t know what’s better? sweater weather boot season or mad for plaid? i guess i’ll take all three.

today’s ootd is part prepilicious and part street style. but there’s no question it’s 100% fall. the color scheme starts with the button front plaid skirt from Talbots. i’m wearing a size 8 and it fits TTS. this skirt lends itself to a pair of loafers, booties, or knee-high boots with ease. and it looks equally fantastic with a denim shirt or chunky sweater. don’t you just love choices? i chose an oversized burgundy sweater from Nordstrom (limited sizes similar here) and a pair of suede booties (old, similar here and here) for a chic city look. it’s time to pull out one of my favorite suede handbags from storage (old Talbots, similar here) and a suede jacket from Ralph Lauren (old, similar here). all in all this outfit is casual chic from head to toe and satisfies my mad for plaid fall craving.

The mad about plaid had some great looks. Always great to see your perspective

My preference would have been to add tights. Bare legs are gone once cold weather arrives.

  3. Madeleine

….plaids, as stripes MUST MATCH or the garment looks tacky

  4. Amazing colour combination with the jacket/sweater! Would never have thought of it. Iโ€™m neutral undertone, so can wear warm or cool colours – depending. Burgundy has always been a tricky colour for me but that shade looks doable. Hopefully it looks as good on moi as it does on you! One can hope. Your posts are always inspiring. At least with this crazy 2020, we have no excuse not to play in our closets and try out new combos. Stay safe, Beth.๐ŸŒท

Just curious. Are you wearing hose or anything on your legs? they look very nice in the photos!

Hi Beth love the purple booties, I would wear them with woolly tights as too cold here at home for bare legs!
