if it’s monday then we should be singing the blues. unless you’re wearing black. like today’s ootd which features a simple black and white striped tee, a-line skirt and the cutest pair of pointy-toed flats i’ve seen in a good long while. every season i develop a style crush with a pair of shoes. be warned! these slingbacks will be on style repeat all summer long.
anyone a Game of Thrones fan? it’s hard to believe but after eight seasons and more than one emotional high and low, the series is now history. i’ve been a big fan from the beginning. this is a story with characters you want to root for (although they kept killing them off!) with enough twists and turns to keep you on your toes. to be honest, last weeks episode was sooooo disappointing that i worried they would screw up the ending. but they didn’t. in fact, they added another twist i didn’t see coming. but the finale was satisfying from beginning to end.
a-line skirts are one of my favorites. it’s a simple style that’s flattering to most figures as it skims the body. it’s a nice departure from a curve-hugging pencil skirt. but more streamlined than a pleated skirt.

throw a cardigan over a striped tee, and a-line skirt for a business casual look.
accessories always add that one-two punch to any outfit. handbags and shoes are an easy way to update your look. but don’t forget jewelry. bangles are a must-have for me. they’re fun to stack but look beautiful on their own.

all right, gang, it’s monday morning. time to get a new week underway. this week is a busy one for me. on wednesday evening i will be in atlanta representing Global Runway as one of their Brand Ambassadors. from 6pm to 9pm there will be an interactive aviation-themed fashion-forward retail experience held at the world’s busiest airport – Hartsfield Jackson. can’t wait!

I love this basic, but still very stylish, look!
simple is always better! lovet his basics. xo
Those shoes are hardly basics! Trendy and expensive.
the shoes are far from basic and worth every penny! love ’em. xo
I can’t get the links on the bottom of the pictures to work. They go to Pinterest. HELP! I want to see all the skirt options.
I’m looking for a yellow A-line skirt and would like to see if there are any options here. Do you have any suggestions for yellow skirts?
hi cindy! you have to hover over the bottom of the photo to go to the product. hope this helps! xo
Hi Beth,
This is a great look that most of us could recreate with items already in our closet. I just love those shoes!!
Debbie Robinson
aren’t these shoes adorable? and they’re quite comfy too. xo
Nice look, especially for our temps.
GOT fan, too!
were you happy with the ending? i know many fans weren’t but i thought it brought the show full circle. xo
Darling outfit. I’ve always loved kick pleats!
my mom loved kick pleats! it’s a flattering and sassy addition. xo
Hi Beth, love your outfit, simple but very stylish, I’m loving those flat sling back shoes, I will have to look out here in England to see if there is anything similar. I’m not a Game of Thrones fan but hubby Graham is and he’s got the last episode to watch yet but he says he’s been rather disappointed in this last series, hopefully the last episode will make up for it. Again loving today’s look. Xoxo
thanks julie! most GoT fans have been disappointed with the series this season. and most were disappointed with the finale. but i thought the ending brought the series full circle. xo
Black and white is so chic. I still use that handbag, too–I love it. GOT ended very close to what I predicted, so i was pleased, but apparently many are disappointed. (I don’t really know what they expected!) I predicted Bran the Broken would be at the helm. And Sansa. I was happy about Tyrion, and I thought it was perfect that Arya went off into new adventures.
i was satisfied with the ending sue! good for you for predicting Bran as the future king. i thought Jon Snow should have ruled but after he killed Daernys i suppose that wasn’t the wisest choice. the show was brought full circle with Jon riding off with his best friend and wolf. that made me happy. xo
Lovely – the garments, the fit, the pattern mix and adding the cardi over your shoulders, pure perfection.
hi lorena! a cardigan is quite versatile. it looks chic thrown over the shoulders but when you’re cold it comes in handy. xo
Love this site. Always uplifting
thanks so much for the feedback, nancy! so happy to hear this. xo
Looking good, girl!
I love this now! this looks sharp!
