this easter weekend went by so fast it felt like one big blur. there was at least three nursery runs made over the course of two days. potting soil, shepherd hooks, bird feeders, bird food, and mr. style’s favorite gadget, solar lights all made their way into our cart then into the garden. the patio might, just might be finished. even if a few things still need to be tweaked, i’mย pooped, so that’s that for the time being. and since we were taking it easy today why not have the photo shoot in our own backyard? works for me.

today’s ootdย is nine-to-five chic with a modern twist. if you watched my video yesterday, perhaps you noticed this striped dress. it’s perfect for spring/summer, but it’s short. not too short for the weekend, but too short for the office. but what happens whenย i pop it over a pair of on-trend cropped pants? instant office glam! a structured handbag and pointy-toed pumps keep the ootdย grounded but fresh.

style tip: pair classic essentials with trendy items for a modern classic look.

okay, ladies, let’s get this week started!

You accomplished a lot in a few days! I agree wit Mr Style…gotta have solar lights…so pretty in the garden at night. Like the details on the dress… xoxo

I love my solar lights too! And I’m loving the wooded look of your back yard! I am hoping to make mine secluded one day…. planting planting planting.
Your hair is looking cute too!

  4. Such a great idea for wearing the cute much too-short dresses on the market right now. At my age (72) I am so much more comfortable in pants/leggings rather than dresses, but am drawn to some of them none the less. Thanks for the inspiration. So glad you had a productive weekend and can now enjoy your lovely yard.

I have resorted to this often with dresses I’ve decided are just too short for a 62 yr old woman to wear. I’ve worn leggings with them sometimes, too. I love it–looks wonderful! Your yard does, too, and your hair!

Our roses are blooming already–usually it’s May before they begin. I’m not complaining, because I love them, but it is a month early.
