hello Wednesday! and goodbye March. while Georgia has seen its share of rain the past week or so, along with the dreaded yellow slime known as pine pollen, spring is in full swing. the birds are singing, the bees are buzzing, and butterflies will soon appear along with the most delightful creatures – hummingbirds. can you believe Good Friday is a mere two days away, with Easter Sunday fast on its heels? don’t forget to tune into fridays with oscar, where i share my Easter table and a charming Easter dress perfect for the occasion or any spring day. but today’s ootd is all about preppy style and a pair of adorable floral jeans.
there is nothing better than spring, in my opinion, when the earth renews once again. it’s a yearly reminder that all things bright and beautiful are possible. this is the time of year i love to add pastels or bright colors into my wardrobe. if you ever scratch your head wondering what colors to put together, look no further than mother nature. today’s ootd is a prime example. what is more calming than a beautiful spring day filled with blue skies and the yellow sun above? love, love, love any shade of blue that will complement any skin tone. but i have a deep affection for blue paired with yellow. now that’s a color combo certain to bring a smile to your face and a spring to your step.
y’all know i have a deep affection for preppy style that harkens back to my youth. i’ve been smitten with floral jeans or a variation thereof for the past forty years. Talbots trots out a new version of floral jeans just about every year. this go-round the print is watercolor vases with shades of ivory, blue, and light jade. today, i’m wearing these preppy style floral jeans with a light blue tennis sweater that’s years old from Ralph Lauren. what caught my attention about this outfit is that Talbots carries a similar blue tennis sweater this year they modeled with the floral jeans. the outfit looked fantastic with white sneakers. but i decided to add a pair of yellow driving mocs (old, similar here, here, and here) which elevates the outfit while keeping it casual through and through. guess what? my white handbag is back in action today. this little baby goes with everything! especially with all the spring outfits.

it’s Wednesday, ladies; time to put a smile on someone’s face, including yours.

beautiful, love that tone of blue
me too, gloria!
So very cute as usual. Love the blue and yellow together. I also love blue and pink together, that I have seen you style. So many choices.
blue is such a versatile color. it goes with just about everything.
Blue, great color on everyone. Long ago, heard it’s why, along with purple, was worn by royalty in their luxurious gowns and robes. You compliment Springtime, Beth! Your latest haircut is growing out so nice, too~
thanks for sharing, sylvia! i always love to hear the backstory.
“Complement” not “Compliment”! Have to correct my error~
Sporty and springy. Love this look! I’ve recently been using your side tuck tip, and love that look too.
that’s so good to hear! love a half-tuck.
This is definitely your style – you knock it out of the park! A cheerful color combination against that blue wall that makes us want pick daffodils for the table! I can hardly wait to see your Easter dress!
give me all the daffodils and tulips! love this time of year.
In New Orleans and along the MS Coast where I live, we would call your yellow shoes, un petit quelque chose en plus. A little something extra. I have a few pair of stripe summer pants but no floral. It might be time to try these out. Eve
you should! let me know what you think if you do.
Hi Beth,
I kinda want nuts ordering Talbot’s blue and yellow. It reminded me of my bedroom’s color scheme when I was growing up. The walls were about the color of your sweater with yellow accents. That’s also the color scheme of Monet’s kitchen. Great spring colors that look good on you just like the model in the catalogue I could plant some daffodils along the seawall to get the blue and yellow and in a couple weeks I’ll have my own blue and yellow outfits just in case I go somewhere
it’s easy to go crazy at Talbots! your teen bedroom sounds like a dream. i imagine there are lots and lots of good memories.
I must be your older sister from another mother! I have this same outfit and yellow shoe 🤣. The color mix just says spring to me. And it’s preppy classic. Love your column.
i just love this time of year when everything is lighter and brigher.
Call me crazy but I loved these pants so much that I bought the matching jacket!
wow! now that’s love.
That is a gorgeous outfit on you, Beth! I love your style. I have that same Ralph Lauren sweater but in cobalt blue. I will need to look for some pants to create a similar look. I really appreciate your wise advice to invest in good quality basics that can be worn for years. You can mix them in so many ways to get a lot of wear. Thank you for your thoughtful content! Have a great Easter weekend with your family.
don’t you just love Ralph?! i can always count on him for the classics like this tennis sweater. Happy Easter weekend!
Love your clothes
thanks for stopping by.
Love the sunglasses as well! New pair?
no. these are Garrett Leight. one of my kiddos likes this brand. and now i do too!
