it isn’t monday, but i’m singin’ the blues with a faux leather jacket anyway. a style tip for any woman in any climate is to lighten their color palette once the seasons begin to change. instead of black, opt for blue. exchange brown in favor of ivory. years ago, when we lived in the tropics, i had two distinct wardrobes. a dark color scheme for fall and winter, a light color scheme for spring and summer. even though the temperature never varied, my wardrobe had variety.
this time of year, i look forward to exchanging sweaters for blouses. but the lighter fabric just might not be warm enough to stand on its own. that’s when a third layer comes into play. what is a third layer? it’s that one piece of clothing that completes the outfit, whether it be a cardigan, jacket, or blazer. a third layer comes into play when the seasons change. not only will a third layer add pizazz and personality to your outfit, but it will give you an extra layer of warmth. now that’s a win/win.
lately, i’ve received a few emails asking me to feature lower-priced clothes. which is why i’m singin’ the blues in a faux leather jacket from Walmart. this faux leather jacket is from Scoop sold exclusively at Walmart. it ticks all the boxes for a chic yet oh-so-cool moto jacket. metal hardware – check. side zipper – check. affordable – check, check. okay, maybe faux leather jackets don’t need to fall under the affordable category, but all the better when it does. if you haven’t checked out the Scoop line, i highly recommend that you do. they offer the latest styles that will update your wardrobe without breaking the bank.
who else likes to mix luxe labels with lower-priced items? today’s ootd is proof style doesn’t have one pricepoint. it all starts with the baby blue faux leather jacket that looks adorable with a ruffle neck peasant blouse from Anthropologie. Anthro is my first stop for a boho-chic-inspired blouse infused with color. honestly, Anthropologie always has the cutest tops and tees that keep me at the top of my spring and summer style game. their blouses are feminine, fun, and flirty. what more can i say? but y’all know how much i love Ralph Lauren. these faded blue jeans hail from his collection, and they’re on sale! i’m wearing a size 29 for reference. add a pair of white mules from J.Crew (old, similar here, here, and here), and this ootd is in the books. btw white shoes are trending for spring. white boots too. and who can resist a pair of white sneakers last seen on SaaCA here?

Get rid of those jeans!!!! They look like you got them out of the garbage! Not your style.
Use dark navy
ha ha! but they are sooooo my style. love to mix things up.
This was an interesting topic about mixing pieces at different price points.
I struggle trying to keep within a budget, buy ethically produced and more nationally made. I am really trying not to buy fast fashion oh boy there are just so many things to consider before I even hit style and fit
there certainly is!
Love the jacket but I’m sorry to say the jeans look like you painted your house in them.
I think that style is better left to teenagers.
isn’t it great that style is personal? what works for you may not for me and vice versa.
So you do not want criticisms? I only mentioned that your jeans look like you painted in them and I feel they are meant for youngsters.
??? criticism? i get criticism every day.
You look beautiful in blue. The difference is for me, the not exact fit. I don’t know if you usually have your clothes tailored to fit even when expensive but the jacket and the blouse seem a little bit boxy. Perhaps it’s just the style though. Did you keep these in your wardrobe?
the trend this season is definitely a loose fit. but moto jackets are typically quite boxy so this one
is true to form.
Recently bought a gorgeous leather jacket in a deep burgundy colour from Baukjen, now all I need is a chance to go somewhere wearing it!
looks like you’ll have an opportunity soon!
Let’s hope the vaccines are the light at the end of the tunnel.
Love the jacket and I just ordered it. I recently ordered a blue snake print top I’m hoping it goes with. Keep wearing what you enjoy I’m never disappointed with your posts.
you will love the jacket!
Beth, you always show us new and fresh styles, love this one! And I’m someone who shops at both Walmart mart and Nordstrom’s..so I appreciate all your tips. Sorry that some readers left critical comments about the jeans…yes, we all have our own style. I’m afraid that my mom would turn over in her grave if I wore ripped jeans, they just aren’t for me. But if you pair them with such other great fashion advice, I think that’s ok! I appreciate you!
thanks, linda! i always say “you say potato, and i say potatoe.” the differences in life are what
keep it fresh and exciting.
Can I ask what size your jacket is? I just want to know if it’s true to size.
size medium
I feel the same way about colors and the seasons…………I can not where burgandy in the summer…….it is a fall color…….same with brown. Thought I was the only one!!!
Sorry for all the harsh remarks………not necessary
thanks for your sweet words.
Some folks should take a chill pill. No reason to get their panties in a bunch lol !!! I like the ootd. Love the motto jacket. It’s not like Beth is going to go to a black tie event in the outfit today. It’s a fresh & relaxed casual outfit.
sometimes, a girl’s gotta have fun! and that includes your outfit.
You are gorgeous no matter what you wear 😇
well, you just made my day! thanks so much.
I love the color of this jacket and that blue looks good on you. Seems like a great bargain. Personally, I choose not to shop at Walmart for political reasons. But you do you! I appreciate that you are making an effort to show a variety of price points, as your readers requested.
we all have choices to make. totally respect yours.
I also choose not to shop at Walmart for political reasons. I like the Ralph Lauren jeans. They are classic with an edge! You look great in blue, Beth!
You look so good! I love that blue on blue with the bottom layer with the big print. Thanks!
always a big fan of blue no matter what shade! thanks for stopping by.
Fun styles! Love you in the beautiful blue! Now those pants say fun! Not for me, but you look cute.
I bought a pink faux leather jacket last year and enjoyed it with a lot of outfits. It was inexpensive, but was made well. So checking out some less expensive trendy things makes sense.
exactly! and we all need a little fun in our lives.
Well, at least you will have some new jeans to wear while working outside doing Spring clean-up chores-LOL!!
heck no! these jeans are too adorable for garden work.
Wondering if the shoes are Belgian loafers?
no, they are J.Crew.
I love to mix high and low price points. The blue jacket is such a great price and it looks fab on you! As for the jeans, they are a win win in my book. Leave it to a great designer to put some ‘fun’ in our life and give us something cute to smile at. One of my favorite outfits Beth. Thanks for sharing! Remember your manners ladies and if you don’t have anything nice to say…. swipe left!
i could wear Ralph Lauren from head-to-toe every day! he never fails in my book.
Blue on blue! (You may not be old enough to get the reference to B.V.). I just love this outfit, head to toe. I don’t think the ladies who don’t like the jeans are being mean at all. It IS a different look. I’m 67, but I do like them. I find them charming – rustic and ”Americana”. But the ripped and torn jeans with gaping holes – I find those truly offensive. Anyway, back to the outfit. I’ll be copying it and checking out that darling jacket.
this jacket couldn’t be any cuter! hope you check it out.
Wow – I just love that blue jacket. Last spring I bought my first moto jacket ever – black. I haven’t had it out of the closet because of the pandemic, but plan on getting it out soon. We are still in the 15-25 degree range. After buying the black jacket I was walking through a store and saw a moto in a soft blush pink – it was adorable. I think the lighter colors make for a softer look especially for us ladies of a certain age.
love the muted tones once spring arrives. hangeth thou in there. spring will be here before we know it.
Hi Beth, I love blue too! I appreciate that you showed us some less expensive options, since I am recently retired and look for ways to save more 🙂
i am so happy to hear you found some inspiration.
Love the jeans! All sold our unfortunately. They could look like you just painted the house if you had paired with a sloppy sweatshirt but certainly not the way you styled them. You are so correct…isn’t it great we all can have our personal style. And as a grandmother, I want to look like a hip one!
couldn’t have said it better! thanks so much for stopping by.
I ordered the blue moto jacket from Walmart and its as you say wonderful. I would have loved to have seen a photo of you wearing it from the BACK – you might want to consider adding a photo once in awhile of the back ‘angle’ as the back of this jacket is beautiful! Thanks for the tip a I would NEVER have ordered it without your recommendation and I’m glad I did!
i am so happy you love the jacket, sharon! what a beautiful shade of blue that goes with so many things. enjoy!
I finally gave in and ordered this blue faux leather blue jacket. I know I really don’t “need” another jacket but I adore this blue so much. It is scheduled to arrive by FEDEX tomorrow (Wednesday). I’ve been adding more color into my wardrobe since going to my natural hair color which is very similiar to yours. I still love my black and white, though for anytime of the year.
black and white is always all right. but isn’t it fun to add color to your wardrobe! i think you’ll like the jacket.
Betth, I LOVE your whole outfit! Several years ago I decided that I just couldn’t wear torn jeans because I was in my 60’s. Well, I’m now 66 and guess what. I’m wearing torn jeans! Life’s too short to be so restrictive. I get compliments on how great and adorable I look. Live a little ladies!!
you are exactly right, michelle! life is short. eat the cake and wear the jeans.
