Yesterday’s OOTD was all about pops of pink. Today, it’s all about a black and white outfit perfect for spring and well into summer. Black and white are always all right especially when it comes to putting an outfit together. This classic color combo is easy on the eyes, which is why many designers use this monochromatic palette in fashion and home design.

A black tee is a wardrobe staple I wear again and again during the warmer months. I have a sleeveless tee, short sleeve tee, three-quarters tee, and long sleeves. Lots of choices when it comes to the mighty black tee. I also have the same lineup of white tees my folded in my drawer. Why that many, you ask? Because wardrobe staples are the hardest working items in your closet that can be mixed and matched to create endless outfits.

Today’s outfit starts with a bracelet-length (or three-quarter sleeve) black tee (old, similar here, here, and here). It’s the perfect choice when you want to show off a stack of bracelets. And it’s the perfect partner with a feminine white eyelet skirt from Ann Taylor. The black tee gives the outfit balance and keeps it from becoming too frilly or foo foo as my mother would say. That’s the yin and yang of fashion - balance.

Black wedge sandals are the perfect shoe to give you height but stability. And I am loving this black handbag with bamboo handle that goes with so many of my spring and summer outfits. Lovely! A white eyelet skirt (pants or top) just scream warm weather to me. As a child, and now as an adult, I always have something in my wardrobe that is white eyelet for those warm and sunny Spring/Summer days. I don’t know if white eyelet is more of a Midwest favorite over other areas of the country, but we loved it in Iowa where I grew up.
This style is a favorite on the east coast as well. It’s about the only style I can wear from my younger days.
