spring is officially ten days away although it seems months away when you are contending with snow. while snow flurries may not be accumulating in georgia boy oh boy we’ve dodged quite a few raindrops the past few weeks. so it comes as no surprise that rainboots and trench coats make it onto my spring wardrobe essential list along with a few other must-have items.
but first, let’s talk about spring trends. while i am a classic style girl through and through i love to mix trendy pieces with my tried-and-true staples. this is how i keep my wardrobe looking modern and fresh. so what came down the spring fashion runways? pastels and bright colors, embellished jeans, polka dots, kimonos, logos, belts, and trouser suits to name a few.
embellished jeans
kimonos
what are the spring wardrobe essentials i always have on hand? let’s take a peek.
spring dresses. there are so many events to attend come spring. graduations, bridal or baby showers, rehearsal dinners. it’s a busy season. that’s why i always have one dress hanging in my closet. and it’s so easy to throw on a dress then jazz it up with a few key accessories. it’s one and done! my favorite brand by far is Ralph Lauren.
straw accessories. nothing says spring quite like a straw handbag or straw hat.
belts. if you have followed the blog for any length of time you know, i love to add a belt. this year, they are on trend although i never think they go out of style. in my opinion belts are a fabulous accessory just like handbags that can spruce up any outfit. since they last for years, don’t be shy to spend a pretty penny. belts are worth every cent. cinch one around your waist or weave it through belt loops. skinny, wide or anything in between. look for interesting details like belt buckles or a double wrap. but don’t forget logo belts are a timeless accessory.
white denim. these days white denim is a staple all year long. but they look especially crisp come springtime. add a blazer, tee, or cotton shirt. there are lots of fits to choose from: girlfriend, boyfriend, high rise, skinny, ankle, and jeggings.
mules and loafers. love both of these shoe styles. my favorite loafers are from Everlane my latest style crush. Target has a fabulous Gucci knock-off mule, but Sam Edelman has a nice selection.
utility jacket. a green utility jacket is versatile and lightweight. trust me; it is the perfect spring jacket.
sunglasses. to be certain sunnies have that cool factor going for them. but did you know you protect the whites of your eyes from UV light when you slip a pair on before you head outside?
trench coat. a trench coat is a perennial favorite. it’s classic, chic, and it keeps me dry when those raindrops fall. of course, you can never go wrong with a khaki trench. but look for different patterns to update this classic staple.
rain boots. it’s safe to say i love my hunter rain boots especially when it’s time to take oscar for a walk. this spring i think a short boot would be great to have on hand.
all right, ladies, let’s hope spring decides to show up! when it does, i’ll be ready with a few of my favorite spring essentials on hand. happy sunday!
