what i wore to the rehearsal dinner
this past weekend mr. style and i flew to oregon for our son’s wedding held at loloma lodge. the backdrop was the mckenzie river with flora and fauna at every bend and turn. weddings can be complicated when it comes to attire. destination weddings are no exception. there will be a post on sunday about the mother of the groom dresses. you asked, and i will deliver. but today’s post is all about what i wore to the rehearsal dinner. all of the wedding events were held outside – rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception. so special attention was placed on footwear and comfort.
when the sun sets in oregon, it does get a bit chilly. a blazer was a must. when special occasions are on my agenda, i typically shop high-end brands. theory is one of my favorites. known for their classic aesthetic, it’s easy to shop for all of my favorites – blazers, pants, and tees. theory has stand-alone stores. but this brand is also sold at nordstrom and neiman marcus. i found the blazer first then decided on a pair of black pants. black is serviceable and chic so this decision was a no-brainer considering the setting. polka dot slingbacks add a pop of personality. flat shoes were the perfect choice for grassy terrain. as for the top i could have gone either way. shirt or tee. but i finally decided a tee gave a casual chic air to the outfit. it was the perfect choice for a rehearsal dinner held in a rustic setting.
on our way to the rehearsal dinner mr. style snapped the first few photos just outside our cabin door. as you can see the scenery was breathtaking. the roar of the rushing water soothed the soul. if our schedule hadn’t been jampacked with a rehearsal dinner and wedding, i’d have plopped down on an adirondack chair with my nose in a book. there was no wifi for five days. heaven. except we could trek to the main lodge to plug-in from time-to-time.

all the fixings for s’mores were tucked inside the ball jars. when the sun set we roasted marshmallows over a bonfire.

My son and daughter in law were married at Bridal Veil Lake on top of a mountain in the Columbia River Gorge, Oregon. It was the most beautiful wedding I have ever attended. Rustic scenes like you have shared with us. Nothing will ever come close. So glad that you were able to experience something similar!
