if there is one quintessential pair of preppy summer sandals it has to be jack rogers. years ago, this iconic shoe was made famous by jackie kennedy. legend has it that while vacationing in italy in 1960, she fell in love with a whipstitched sandal with a rondelle detail. upon her return to the states she gave a pair to her cobbler in palm beach. when her friends spied the sandal they wanted a pair too. and so the perennial preppy classic was born.
guess who has eyed this brand for years but never pulled the trigger? that is until now. and for my very first pair, i chose white. don’t you think they will serve me well all summer long paired with shorts, skirts, dresses, and pants? for their first outing, i couldn’t resist wearing a simple black and white ensemble. the top is modern through and through with its take on the cold shoulder trend. but the pants are prepilicious with a cheerful botanical print. add a pair of jazzy earrings and i’m ready for date night with mr. style. now, how easy was that?

You will wear the heck out of the Jacks! Nothing says summer (and preppy) like sandals. I have a similar sandal without the name and price tag…ha! We have been talking about favorite shoes from the past and I recall a pair of sandals, kind of a caramel brown leather with linen, that I loved. They weren’t expensive, I think they came from the Kinney shoe store. xoxo
i remember kinney’s! are they still around? if they are i haven’t seen one in ages.

Beth, I love your outfit and actually it is going to be my inspiration to put together a similar one for an upcoming trip to Atlanta. Seems perfect for that trip. I also own one pair of Jack Rogers sandals. Mine are the white wedge with bands, not the thong style. I love them and want a flat pair also. I can’t wear a thong style, but fortunately Jack Rogers makes the thong style and a band style. Pricey, but so comfortable.
i’m so happy i finally pulled the trigger with jack rogers. and you’re right, diane, they are very comfortable. pack some cool clothes as our temps are heating up down here! but atlanta’s a fabulous city to visit – lot’s to do and see. and great restaurants.

Pretty look! I love the sandals–they’ll be in play all summer, I bet–I imagine there’s not much they won’t go with.
I have a pair of pants in a navy/white that are similar to yours–I love them and wear them to death, so I imagine you enjoy those. I still haven’t pulled out my bamboo handled bag like yours–and I used it all last summer. I need to get it out this weekend! Have a good one!
i’m always a sucker, sue, for a jazzy pant print. i don’t know why! but i always have at least one print in my closet and think they’re the perfect summer look. and i’m soooo excited to finally own a pair of jack rogers. what took me so long?!

Very nice outfit. I really liked the Jack Rogers sandals and treated myself,a few years ago, to a pair. However, I never found the strap between the toes to be comfortable and wound up giving the sandals away. It’s a great shoe if it works for you though.
lot’s of women can’t wear the thong style sandal. but jack rogers also makes a slip-on with bands instead of a thong. worth checking out if you like the brand. for some reason i’ve been lucky in the feet department as nothing ever seems to bother them. knock on wood!
