the past few weeks i’ve been working on a fun project with Talbots, one of my all-time favorite brands. and yours too! so today, i’m sharing how to style summer cargo pants two ways. these cargo pants are cropped and lightweight, so they’re perfect for the dog days of summer. a crisp white sleeveless blouse would look fantastic with these pants. or how about a cute short sleeve tee? but what i love about these pants is that they can transition with ease from summer into fall with a few key layers.
the first outfit starts with the cargo pants and a long sleeve stripe tee. love how the metallic stripes fade into black. can you say cute? a pair of white sneakers add casual flair. but if the temps begin to dip as they often time do in the northern states come mid-August, a trusty denim jacket is the perfect third layer. all we need is an adorable calf hair cross-body handbag and this outfit is complete. it’s casual chic at its very best.

white sneakers add spit and polish to your outfit. plus, they’re oh so comfy and go with everything. even cute summer dresses.
the second outfit is elevated casual chic. again, we start with the lightweight cargo pants. but this time, we bring in a cap sleeve marled sweater that adds texture. this sweater goes perfectly with the addition of a leopard scarf and black blazer. and for the finishing touch, don a pair of black sandals that will keep the outfit firmly rooted in summer.

scarves are an easy way to add sophisticated elegance to any outfit. wear one loosely draped over the blazer or tie it around your neck. this is one accessory that has versatility written all over it.

A good idea to mix the beige trousers with grey top, it looks understated and elegant. Btw, loving your shorter hairstyle.
You always look wonderful in everything you wear, but I absolutely love Outfit 2! The scarf sets off your lovely hair style and looks sophisticated and elegant. I can’t wait until it gets cool enough to once again wear scarves.
Hi Beth, I appreciate this and other post but it would be great if you would comment on how the pants fit your body. I can get the information you shared from Talbots site but I want to know how they fit – are they roomy, where? Do they sit at your true waist? Etc.
Cool and comfortable. I often like the way you style an item better than the website. I wish I could wear an ankle strap shoe but nature did not give me a slim ankle. Always take away some great ideas though.
Hi Beth,
I was so excited when I saw your post because I bought these crops yesterday. Love the additional styling ideas. Many thanks!

Oooh, love the cargo pants with the side pocket. I hadn’t seen them yet–got the new catalog but hadn’t even opened it yet. I’ll have to head over to look through it. I like the cap-sleeve sweater, too. I saw your post saying you’re heading to Tybee. Have a blast. That’s an excellent idea during the pandemic. A getaway that’s safe, too.
Like this combo and the 2 ways you presented it.
Am I being too picky when I wonder why the pants had wrinkles?
It just so happened, I bought that denim jacket today, before seeing this post. I chose to go up a size for wearing ease, and to make room for bulky clothing if find some cold weather in the future. Living in Florida, much of my wardrobe is summer clothing, and a jacket like this will take summer clothes into fall.
Hello Beth. So chic and nice always. I love the 2 looks! Hello from France đĢđˇ đ
