it sure feels like summer here in Athens. and summer means blazers. “wait, what?” you’re asking. yes, indeed. i love wearing blazers all year, including the summer. last week, on my YouTube channel, i posted a video 1 white blazer 5 ways. i wanted to pick up on that topic, today, and talk how to wear a blazer this summer more generally. i’ve gone through the archives and pulled some of my favorite summer outfits featuring a blazer from the past year.
and so it goes with fashion. vivid colors give us energy. subdued colors keep us relaxed. today’s ootd is a perfect example of how to add bright colors to your wardrobe. pink is known for its feminine qualities and approachability. does anyone remember the nursery rhyme sugar and spice and everything nice? a preppy gingham blazer would fall into that category. so i toughened the blazer up a bit by adding a graphic red t-shirt that adds a little power into the mix. white is a neutral that goes with everything. i love how these white chinos tone down the outfit and add casual ease.

if you are looking for one classic summer blazer that will serve you well this white linen blazer fits the bill. dress it up with a tweed dress and kitten heels. or dress it down with drawstring shorts, split neck top, and seersucker sandals. of course, white goes with everything. but this little number comes in island turquoise and flax.
here’s a tip i learned at the fashion show. pin a brooch on your blazer pocket instead of your lapel. i liked it. i really liked it. so i pinned my brooch on the flap pocket. have fun with the placement. feel free to position it lower.

i know, i know, there are many of us who complain about ladies room duties when wearing a jumpsuit. if you can get beyond that particular drawback, jumpsuits are an easy way to put a little FUN into your wardrobe and an evening out on the town. what caught my attention about this cute little number was the double buckle belt detail along the bodice of this wide-leg blue jumpsuit. and it has side slant pockets which are always a plus for me. the bodice is lined, and the belt defines the waistline. the one thing jumpsuits have in common with dresses is that they are both one and done. and who doesn’t love easy?

i chose a pair of bermudas i picked up last week at banana republic. it looks as if the online inventory is low so take a look at this pair or this one. recently, i suggested popping a blazer over the top of a pair of sporty shorts. and that’s just what i did. j.crew is one of my favorite stores to shop for blazers as they typically are well-made with workable button holes and nice finishing details like striped linings or brass buttons.

Last year, after seeing your post, I loved the pink gingham blazer so much that I bought it. Unfortunately with this spring’s pandemic I haven’t had a chance to wear it yet. 🙁
just be patient. more opportunities will be headed our way to wear cute clothes. like that adorable pink gingham blazer.
Lovely Beth! I need a white linen blazer now! You are adorable, thanks for sharing your style!
thanks for stopping by, gwen! always love to hear from you.
What style blazer should I buy I am5ft .Thank you.
proportions are key so i would look for a petite blazer that’s structured and hits your hipbone.
You Are Stunning Thank You Great Ideas
I love the new trend of pink and here we have it in gingham. Great look but my favorite is the brown shorts with a white blazer. I live this shade of brown and the two toned bag and shoes are perfect with it. You look fabulous in your new haircut!
Blazers are probably the silver lining for any wardrobe, especially sparse ones. I love the way you showcase them as the workhorses they truly are. Top of the line or thrift store treasure, everyone should have one. You are so right, they never go out of style and they will last forever.
On a different theme, love the lipstick you are wearing with the jumpsuit and brown Bermudas. I love bright lips, but am experiencing those dreaded lip lines that make an even lip line elusive at best. So makeup artists in stores are advising me to just go with lighter colours that work better with mature outlines. I am, therefore, in search of lighter shades that still bring happiness and joy to the face. So light bright vs dark bright. Do you remember the shade or brand that you used in those pics. Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine – air hugs
Hi, Beth! This entire post simply makes me feel good. You’re fabulous head to toe. Absolutely fabulous! Pinning the brooch on the pocket is genius. Will be trying it! Seems like a fun, summertime idea when you want to look put together but not so formal. Your hairstyle with each outfit is fantastic too. Great blog! Love and hugs from hot Texas ~
I would never have thought of wearing a red T-shirt under the pink and white blazer. I love that look! You are so brilliant! You give us such good ideas! Thank you, thank you!
