we’re talking summer tops today as i continue my quest for the perfect summer one. yesterday, we i featured my favorite summer sweater. today, we’re shifting gears completely and focusing on sequin. when i think “sequin”, i think fun: parties and special occasions in particular. there’s nothing like putting on a sequin dress for a holiday party. but we are a ways a way from the next holiday and smack dab in the middle of summer to boot. and instead of dressing up, we’re gonna dress down. think casual—super casual. here’s how to wear a a sequin top two ways this summer.
my sequin top comes from Anthropologie. if I’m looking for an item that’s a little extra something I always head to Anthropologie. this brand offers clothes with a twist that add pizazz to a classic wardrobe. it’s important to stay modern and fresh as we age. brands like Anthropologie help do just that.
our first outfit features a pair of girlfriend jeans. i’ve been all about girlfriend jeans this summer. they’re definitely lounge-y and great for the new WFH world we find ourselves in. but even more than that, they’re really flexible and go with just about anything, including this sequin top. add a pair of ring toe sandals and some sparkly bangles and earrings for extra pizzazz.

i love, love, love shorts, especially high rise ones. they go great with today’s top, providing a totally different look than our first outfit. if you’re spending a lot of time outside this summer like i am, and it’s as hot as it is in Athens where you are, then you need a good pair of shorts. and it’s hard to imagine adding more fun than a sequin top like this one.

Beth! Super cute!!
Love both ways.
I’m a gardener so I love your outdoor areas.
I have those exact patio chairs.
A gift from our youngest son(we have three too!)
for our fortieth anniversary .
Stay cool!
Everything to love about this post! The idea of sequin, the background, the foreground, you looking fantastic! My favorite pic is that of you holding the watering can. Girl-Next-Door Look. Love it! Love those shorts! Blessings to you, Beth~
I just love your new hair style. So young and fresh. I really enjoy your posts. We have the same sense of style. Even the same taste in dogs. I live in a small town outside of Montreal, Quebec (Canada). I turned 65 this year. My favourite look of yours is the pink and red blouse and pants. Stunning. I had just finished looking at a YouTube video about “how to look 10 years younger” by someone else. One of the ways was to wear small prints because large ones make you look old. Your post certainly shows that she was so wrong. You looked fabulous. I look forward to your posts every day.
I don’t normally like shorts on women our age, but I found your ivory sequins-‘n-peachy outfit very pretty and much more flattering than the girlfriend jeans look. Maybe because the former flowed visually and enhanced your coloring? Made me want to pull out my dressier tops, casual bottoms and see what I could create. Thanks!
The Anthro top is so cute.
Am loving that top. Fresh, feminine but not over the top and would look great with a pencil skirt too – versatile. Speaking of which, bobs are exactly that. I wear mine behind one ear for dressier occasions, but behind both for an easier do with less product. Yours looks great both ways.
I love a little sparkle on the shirts! It just seems to add a little oomph! Your look is perfect!!
I have a white seven year old sleeveless sequined top that I have never worn. I like it and it looks good on me. Now I know how to wear it. Thanks!
I really think I like the top with the shorts best. The color of the shorts just shows off the gold. I’m with the other poster. I think tiny little florals just say old to me, I like the big bold stripes. I remember my Grandmother in high necked, long dresses with tiny little florals.
Both looks are cute, but the jeans look is absolutely fab on you! Really great.
Wow! Love the top and jeans. You look great in the shorts too.
I love your blog. You always look lovely.
Where did you get the beautiful earrings that you are wearing with the sequin top?
I love this look.
