Blazers + Blue Jeans is a style formula that works 365 days a year. Or 366 days ‘cuz 2024 is a Leap Year. Every four years (give or take), our calendars receive an additional day. Feb. 29 is tacked on and becomes the last day of the shortest month of the year. Yep, we get one extra day to reach our goals. Here are some fun facts about Leap Year:

• During leap years, January, April, and July all start on the same day
• There’s an official leap year cocktail (a well rounded martini alternative)
• People born on 29th February are called ‘leaplings’ or ‘leapers’
• Tradition says it’s okay for women to propose to men on 29th February
• Some ancient calendars had entire leap months

And, we get one extra day to put together an outfit and put our style to the test. When it comes to putting an outfit together, I love to pair tried and true wardrobe staples with one trendy item. Blazers, tees, belts, and slingbacks are always hanging in my closet they’re the wardrobe staples. While denim is also a wardrobe staple, it’s easy to experiment with trends by adding a trendy silhouette into the mix.

One of my favorite tweed jackets is the Lady jacket from J.Crew, which has a boxy fit and looks fantastic with high-waisted wide-leg denim, also from J.Crew. I love the patch pockets on these jeans and the stitching, which gives it that little extra something. A striped tee is a go-to wardrobe staple of mine, and this one has gold buttons on the sleeve and a funnel neck.
