many of you may remember this simple shirtdress i wore last year. well, the best part about wearing the classics is that it is a timeless look. put this baby in any decade and guess what? it works. what i like best about building my wardrobe on a foundation of classic pieces is the clean lines and streamlined shapes it offers. nothing too fussy, it’s effortless, timeless, and forever in style. and that works for my lifestyle. and always has.
i hope you don’t mind this post was dug from the archives to share with you once again. but a classic is a classic is a classic any day any year any decade. just remember to add a few accessories that keep the look fresh and modern. in this ootd, i added a brown belt and my favorite wedge sandals. navy and brown are a sophisticated and chic color combination that’s definitely borrowed from the boys. if you are ever in doubt as far as color inspiration take a look at menswear. they have tried-and-true color schemes down pat.
all right, ladies, i see this week is quickly drawing to an end. oscar and i will see you tomorrow.

As you said, you can never go wrong with a classic, elegant look. After that, you can bring in your own personality with expressive accessories. Hope you are feeling better, Beth. I have been fighting a bad cold and cough for over 1 week now. Summer colds are the worst!
i hope you are feeling rebecca! i finally feel back to my old self today. hooray. as you suggested there is nothing worse than a summer cold.

Your hair look GREAT! New haircut?
i did get a new haircut, but his photo was taken last summer when my hair was shorter.

Love a classic dress! One styling is more casual, the other “all business”… Hope you are all better…no one has time to be puny. xoxo
i am finally feeling better, donna! thanks for asking.

I love the coat!
this trench is lightweight and could probably pull double-duty to throw on in lieu of a blazer.

lovely dress and coat! Navy is classic, too. I remember this, and loved it then, too
i do like black but i think navy is far more flattering.
