Happy Thursday! Today we are all about travel outfits! Beth and I are headed to Natchez, Mississippi tomorrow to visit our friend, Chef Regina Charboneau. I am excited because for the first time quite a while, my husband (Beth’s oldest son) Alex will be coming with us! I am looking forward to taking him to a few spots we went to on our visit there, back in February when we were on the American Queen River Cruise. It’s a quick trip, only the weekend, so I am packing light. Let’s take a look at my Travel Outfits: What’s in My Weekender.
Today Kelly shares what she's packing for a weekend trip

Plus, what she's packing in her toiletry bag
Often, I like to choose one outfit for traveling both ways. I will change the shirt, but the bottoms, shoes, and third layer usually stay the same. So is the case for this trip. I prefer to wear pants when I fly, so a perfect summer pant for airports and planes are the Ivy Pants from J.McLaughlin. These pants are pull-on, they’re incredibly comfortable and pretty dang cute!
I will have two white tops to pair with these pants, one for each way. Plus a cardigan, since it’s often chilly on the plane. We arrive in the evening, so I will wear the Cotton Poplin Button-Up on the way there. And because we leave late in the day on the way home, I will wear the Rumpled Satin Blouse on the way back. This is also a strategic choice because the rumpled fashion of the satin means no ironing!
To avoid bringing an excessive number of shoes (which is a trap I often fall into), I will wear the sandals I plan to wear on the one full day we have in Natchez: Metallic Leather Sandals from J.Crew.
Personally, I have no problem with the 20-odd steps I have to walk barefoot through security at the airport. (Aside from TSA, practically everyone treading this area is shoeless.) But if you are uncomfortable with this, I would wear The Original Slip On Sneaker from Rothy’s, with white no-show socks.
I will pack everything for the weekend in my Rothy’s Weekender bag. And I will bring my Belize Woven Bucket Bag as my purse, it’s large enough to carry my travel essentials, along with a water bottle and magazine. And of course, I use packing cubes for organizing my clothes and accessories.
We don’t have any concrete plans for where we will go for dinner on the two nights we have in Natchez, so I am bringing along 2 outfits. Or, if we end up having a nice brunch, or lunch, either will work for that too.
This scoop neck dress is by Vince, a purchase from last summer’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. This is a perfect travel dress for summer. Its pleated wrinkled fabric means it packs and travels well. I also like that it strides that line between dressy and casual really well. While no longer available, I have rounded up two similar versions: Similar Scoop-neck Dress 1 and Similar Scoop-neck Dress 2

The Kiera Platform Mules also walk that casual line, while adding a polished look. To carry the natural wood tones through my outfit, I have a Woven Leather Belt from Madewell. I love this belt because it weaves different shades of brown throughout. Then, I have my Wood and Cane Clutch. I am so happy J.McLaughlin has restocked this bag for this year!
For my second going-out outfit, I am switching up the dress for white chinos and a black and white dot top. Keeping with the same color scheme (black, and white) means I can wear the same shoes, belt, and bag for both of my going-out outfits. But, since I like to mix things up, I am bringing along this Woven Clutch. Because it’s flat, easy to pack, and gives me an option to change my mind – which I like.

It’s forecasted to be partly sunny and 95 degrees F. on the one full day we have in Natchez. Since we will be taking a cooking class in the morning and then spending the day mostly outside, popping in place to place, I am going to play it casual and cool with Striped Chino Shorts, the Sleeveless Essential Shirt, Metallic Leather Sandals, and the Belize Woven Bucket Bag.

Sleepwear
I will bring along a Shortsleeve Pajama Set. I like the pants sets when I travel in summer because the AC often makes it a little too chilly indoors, for me. But I also have this short set, which is fun for mixing and matching.

Travel Skincare
Elemis is my go-to skincare at home, so I stock up on the trave-sized or trial-sized versions of my favorite products whenever they have “free-gift” sales. And I can’t forget my Phillips Sonicare toothbrush!
Travel Haircare
I use Olaplex at home and they have a super-cute travel-size kit. Olaplex is super-rich, a little goes a long way so this kit is perfect to stash in your travel bag. I use this Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer. I like it for a number of reasons, but it’s great for travel because the brush head is detachable.

Kelly, this was a fantastic post! My husband and I do a lot of weekend travel as we are this weekend. I just wish I could have the silk wrinkled dress, chinos and the adorable striped shorts for this trip. But I’ll order them and bring them on the next one. Enjoy Mississippi!
Thank you, Nancy! You have a great trip too! xo Kelly
I hope you have a great time with Beth and Alex. I love the outfits and accessories you’re taking with you, and it looks like you’re ready for anything with those cute clothes. Someone owes me an email about John Wick 4 when she gets back! I’m still going back and forth on the ending, but I’ve finally decided what it is. For today anyway! Bon Voyage.
XO to the traveling Djalalis, and may all your mini vacay dreams come true.
Hi Mari! You know, we had to split John Wick into two nights (it’s so long!) and we haven’t yet watched the last hour. But I will let you know next week. Have a great weekend! xo Kelly
