Today’s the day, or should I say night, for the Barbie movie. And, yes, I’m wearing pink! How could I not? As a matter of fact, you can help me decide which outfit I should wear to dinner and the movie with today's post: What I Wore to the Barbie Movie. Tonight, I’m joining a few of my favorite peeps and enjoying a film on the big screen, which is a nice departure from my flat-screen TV. I’ve heard the Barbie movie is great fun with great performances, so that’s the story, and I think I’ll stick to it.
Many of you know pink is hands down my favorite color, so there’s no lack of this color in my wardrobe. But Barbiecore pink is a vibrant shade that borders on shocking pink. The first Barbie doll was introduced on March 9, 1959, a mere six months after yours truly was born. I think it’s safe to say that Barbie and her gang of friends grew up with me. A few fun facts about Barbie: over a billion Barbie dolls have been sold, Barbie and her friend Ken are two of the most popular dolls in the world, the first Barbie doll wore a zebra striped swimsuit and signature topknot ponytail, Barbie was available as a blonde or brunette (I had the blonde version), and HGTV has a Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge that’s transforming a Southern California home into a real-life Barbie Dreamhouse! The show is on my summer must-watch list.
Okay, gang, let me know in the comment section which outfit I should wear to the Barbie movie. I’m living life in technicolor, one pink outfit at a time! 🌸💖👗

I wouldn't wear this particular outfit out to dinner and a movie but I love this Beyond Yoga outfit in pink. The bright and punchy pink gives me extra motivation and brightens my mood.

Outfit #1! You look like you should be IN the movie—fabulous!
I agree, outfit #1!
Hi… While you look great in all of the options, I would say go with Option 3. Hope you enjoy it and have a great time.
#1, 3 or 5. 5 is so cute
Outfit #1 I love the all white with the pops of pink it’s so classy but still edgy and fun
I happened to be in Paris on July 19th when they had Barbie premiere and all Parisienne’s wore pink! Man and women all in hot pink. Enjoy the movie and have fun in pink❤️
# 2
You look great on all options! I love you in all! But I would wear option 5! Love the halter top! 💗💗💗💗😇😇😇
So I too was born in August 1958. I remember my mother not buying me a Barbie doll. She said she looked too much like a tart. She did buy me Midge and later on her boyfriend Allan. Both of which I still have. One Christmas I was given the fashion house. Oh did I love playing with that. I wish I had it today. I can’t wait to see the movie. All your outfits look beautiful. Have a wonderful day.
Outfit 1
Hi Beth,
I really like #1,4 & 5. Miis seeing you in the neighborhood, but glad to see your blog. I see from our marketing department that you are going to be working with us! When I saw your picture in our marketing meeting, I stopped the presentation and said, she is my neighbor. Our President, say which one and proudly I pointed to you. If you find yourself in SW Florida, give us a call. Dawn
You look great in all of them Beth! But #3 is most “Barbiesque”
Hi Beth, greetings from Kentucky! Oh have a great Barbie evening, and although all outfits are great…#1 is spectacular! I love the white with pink accessories. Looks fab with your tan! BTW, love that you’re back to short hairstyle, it’s so you! Enjoy your Barbie time!
I was in high school when Barbie came out so didn’t have one but I do like Barbie pink. I like all the outfits but 2 & 4 the best. Depends on how dressed up or casual you want to be. Since its the Barbie movie, I would go all out and add the pink bag and shoes. Have fun!
I vote for option #3. Dressy enough for a casual dinner, and covered shoulders for the cold movie theater. Have fun.
You look great in all of the looks! Given that movie theaters tend to be chilly, I think Outfit #4 is the better option. I really like the hot pink heels, though. Have a good time!
Although all outfits are fabulous, #1 says “Fun”!!! Enjoy our day!
I would choose outfit #4. That is more my style for a movie. The others are great outfits but a little dressy for me. The movie is great fun, done very well, with a bit of a message!
Love all the outfits, but #1 is my fav!!. Waiting on my fabulous Barbie pink purse to arrive tmw, then I’[ll be wearing something similar..lol. And my new guy is wanting to see the Barbie movie too!! Saw Oppenheimer last night…wow..great movie!! Hope you’re having a fabulous summer, Beth!!
Hi from Canada,
All the options are great Beth but I like #4.
Have fun,
Pat
With two Barbie granddaughters (eight and six) I MAY be going to this movie……..I think I’m prepared with a light pink, button down boyfriend shirt and — wait for it — earrings comprised of light pink grosgrain bows with pearls suspended (Talbot’s). Obviously pearl necklace to match. Sorry ladies, earrings no longer available! Still, my most fabulous accessories will be those little girls…..
As usual, I’m inspired by your outfits, Beth —
and especially by YOU. Many thanks for all the fun
reading and looking!
I like #4. It’s more casual and comfortable.
PS — #3. Ruffles are everything.
But judging by these varied comments, I predict you will be attending this movie several times. Sending love 💕
Hello Beth,
You have such great style and cute personality. #1. Is definitely you !! So
elegant, classy but easy to wear !! ☺️
Have a lovely and fun evening.
Hi Beth,
Hands down outfit #1. You look happy, cool and comfortable, and so chic! Love white denim anytime of year and pink, too.
I did not turn 9 until late November that year so my parents waited and finally gave me my wish for Christmas. My Barbie was a brunette like I used to be!
I really enjoy your posts!
Kind regards
Hi Beth,
As always, you look classy in all options! Especially the bonus option–WOW!
My vote is for #4, as it looks comfortable, but hits the Barbie pink mark perfectly!
Enjoy the movie!
Option 4
# 1 , you are rockin that outfit like you own the Barbie Mansion!!! Although it’s alway cold in movie theaters!
#1
Best all around , class, elegance, most stylish and perfect fit for you!
5
Flats for theater steps
It’s summer release- white pants with tropical pink top- it’s what Barbie would wear
Take a wonderful wrap for cold ac
Love all the outfits, but 4 and 5 are my favorites.
I like them all, but #3 is the perfect balance of nice casual for dinner yet casual enough for a movie. Let us know how you like the movie!
Outfit #1 is the BEST!! It looks like so much FUN! I love it.
Beth, I am undecided between outfit #3 and outfit #4. You look great in all of the selections. I was 8 when Barbie came to town. I got a Toni doll instead. Both of my granddaughters have Barbie dolls, plural.
Enjoy your dinner and the movie!
Suzanne
Each outfit is very you! As you teach us, wear the one in which you feel wonderful! 🥰
Options 4 & 5 look most comfy for sitting in a movie theater. Have fun! Thanks for all of the inspiration.
Outfit #3!
I Love 1, 3 & 5- you always look great!
Love option 3; cool, and classy!
Personally I love 1 and 5 and think they capture the Barbie vibe while still looking elegant. I agree with the other comments regarding the AC in theaters. A wrap might be a good addition! Enjoy!
You look great in all of them for various occasions from dressy to casual. #1 is my favorite but knowing how cold movie theaters can get I would opt for #4.
You look wonderful in all, but 4 seems most movie appropriate
I like all the outfits but I would pick #3.
Option #4
It will be cold in the movie theatre, so some sort of sweater or blazer. Have fun.
Gail
Outfits 1 and 4 are my faves, so it depends on what you’re going for – fun and flirty (1) or a little more cozy and comfy for the movie (2). You’re more ‘seen’ at dinner since the movie is in the dark, so I’d personally go with number 1 given this.
Not a huge Barbie person but I watched the first episode of the HGTV show last night and enjoyed it *waaaaayyyy* more than I expected, so much so, that I had to watch the next episode right away! The designers are given a space within the house and a specific decade to channel and the results were amazing. So much fun!
I love 3 and 5!
I love outfit #1. I would add bright pink earrings too! I also love pink and especially hot pink!
Love your style!
Option 4 is gorgeously classic and not overdressed for summer and a movie.
GO with it!
Option # 3 or #4: Heels are a bit formal for July in Georgia. I’m having a Barbie luncheon with girlfriends then off to a matinee to see the movie.
First outfit!!.
It’s summer, white all the way with the pink!! Looks so fresh!!
Have fun!!
I like outfit 5, the halter top and white pants and the slides. It looks like summer and fun. All are good, but that is my fave.
I love them all but No 1 is my very fav! I just love all your posts!❤️
3 or 5. Have fun.
While all your outfits a great, I would have liked to see head to toe pink on you. I would have had you wear the pink pants and shoes with the white tank/shell with the pink blouse as you have it with the white tank. Head to toe pink! That’s Barbie!
I’ll be seeing the movie next week and will wear H to T pink! I love it!
First choice #1, next would be #5.
I prefer outfit #1, but I would also take the Pink Linen blouse to slip on during the movie. Movie theaters are always so cold to me. Enjoy!
Love outfit # 2. Have a fun evening out tonight!
Option #1 by far. What’s Barbie without a pair of pink heels?
I like you in option #3
It can be chilly in movie theaters. But you would look great in any of them.
Hi Beth
I like #4 for the movie, but all of the outfits are great! I love the pink! The pink purse and pink shoes are fabulous. Have fun! Thanks for all of the ideas and inspiration. You look very nice in all of the outfits.
I agree with Pam. #3. But I think all the outfits look beautiful on gorgeous you, Beth. Have fun! B
#3 or 4, so you don’t freeze in the movie theater!
I had a red short bubble hair Barbie that my parents bought me since my mom had red hair!! I really wanted the blonde ponytail Barbie!
Have a great time❤️
Outfit #3 Enjoy!
I like them all I think you should wear the White pants And pink halter top. That looks like Barbie the most, but I also like The white pants and tank with the pink Blouse Especially for the theater it will be cold. I purchased both pink tops And the Blazer. I must love pink too!

Barbie is well and good but as a mature woman, perhaps some thought to the Oppenheimer movie should be considered. While I thought the execution of the movie was not great, the Importance of the movie – the thought that uncontrolled nuclear reactions could destroy the world even with less than 99% chance- is something we all need to be reminded of. Barbie may be fun and a diversion, but let’s not forget what is truly important in the world!
Outfit #3 seems like the best choice for dinner and a movie. It is very flattering and covered up enough so you won’t freeze in the movie. Like the others too, but, this seems the most appropriate.
Julie
Number 4 is more movie theater friendly but number
1 is fabulous. Just have fun and let us know your thoughts.
#2 or #3!
You should do this more often — look at how many comments 🙂
Have fun!
P.S. tell us what you choose!
Outfit #3 ! Love those hot pink pants!
Just remembered this and thought you ladies would enjoy……..a few weeks ago, my six year old granddaughter walked into my house waving “ten bucks for Momo” (her words). I asked why and she said “Because I love you!” I thanked her of course, but responded that she didn’t have to “pay” me for love, and tried to get her to put it back in her bank, but she insisted. So I agreed to spend it on something we could do together. Finally she suggested we buy a new Barbie for her that we could play with together. She’s a funny little thing but that Barbie — what a classic. Three or four generations have bonded over her. Wishing her (and all of us) MANY more happy, healthy and stylish years.
Hi Beth,
All the outfits are wonderful, but my personal favorite is number 5. It’s cute and festive for dinner, but still looks comfortable for sitting in a movie theater. Maybe bring a little sweater to put on your shoulders in the theater if you tend to get cold, I know I do. Have a great and wonderful time!

#1 Hands Down!
3 or 4. Movie theaters can be chilly.
1 or 5. All or great, however the choices are more fun, like an evening with Barbie and Ken!
I love outfit # 2 – very classy.Barbie, the movie looks like so fun.Hope you enjoy it.
Outfit #1 is you! Classy, edgy and fun!
Went to the movies last night but saw Sound of Freedom. A must see for everyone.
What outfit did you choose, Beth?
