when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping. am i right?! seriously, in my mind’s eye, shopping has always been FUN. but when i’m on vacation and a vacay with a bestie who also loves to shop? well, it’s time to throw on a pair of comfy and cute shoes and hit the streets. today, i’m sharing what to wear shopping in Savannah.
since Savannah is a hop, skip, and jump from Athens, i can pack my suitcase to the brim if i so choose. that’s the difference between air travel and car trips – suitcase weight allowances. ha! but when i pack for a 3-day getaway, i typically hit the sweet spot as i pack per occasion, not per item. e.g., i plan an outfit specifically for a shopping expedition, sightseeing, lunch/dinner, or a boat excursion. if you’re the type of woman who wants choices, then add an extra outfit or two if need be.
there are two types of shopping expeditions – indoors or outdoors. since Savannah is an outdoor shopping venue with some of the best boutiques littered along Broughton Street and Bull Street, i need to pick my outfit wisely. what to wear shopping, especially when the temps hover around ninety degrees? here’s how i decide. when i am on my feet all day, a pair of comfy shoes is what i choose first. if our feet aren’t happy, then mama ain’t happy. choose wisely. espadrilles (old, similar here and here) are a favorite summer shoe with a wedge sole offering oodles of comfort. a dress would be a perfect choice to wear on a hot summer day. shorts or a skirt would also work. but when i was in Atlanta last weekend, i bopped into Banana Republic and found this adorable pair of lightweight pants that are the perfect alternative to blue jeans. summer neutrals are always on-trend, so i knew these pants would be on summer repeat. recently, i had a chance to visit Bloomingdale’s and picked up this tee with a subtle camo print. love how the color palette is in sync with the pants.
when you’re outfit is rooted in neutrals, accessories are the name of the game. a funky necklace and bangles (old, similar here) add oomph, a croco embossed belt (old, similar here) adds polish. and if i’m power shopping, i want a handbag that can easily fit a bag or two. add a crossbody strap, and this girl is in heaven. but don’t forget a pair of jazzy earrings will always add that extra something.

along Broughton Street:
The Paris Market – this is a must when visiting Savannah. the store is filled with unique treasures and is a visual feast. and if you’re the teensiest bit hungry, they have a café attached to the store where they serve coffee, tea, wine, champagne, and fresh-baked pastries.
Savannah Bee Company – if you love honey, you will love this boutique.
Spartina 449 – think Lily Pulitzer, Kate Spade, or Draper James. super cute shop with super cute accessories, including scarves or pillows with favorite locations.
national retailers are also found along Broughton Street – H&M, Free People, Lily Pulitzer, Banana Republic, LuLu Lemon, to name a few. and if you love ice cream, then you have to stop at Leopold’s Ice Cream who has been in business since 1919! it’s truly worth the wait in line.
shopping on Bull Street:
Red Clover, Harper, and ShopSCAD that houses a unique community of artists that showcase handbags, accessories, jewelry, and home goods.

ladies who go shopping also love to stop for lunch. The Olde Pink House is one of my favorite spots in Savannah. they also dish up some tasty treats and delicious cocktails.

Mac and Cheese Jalapeño Poppers. so good!

Great outfit! I love every piece.
thanks so much for stopping by!
Great blog post Beth! I really enjoyed this post – from the fashion, the Savannah sites, to the food pics! It’s been a minute since I’ve visited Savannah. Thanks for sharing your visit! I’m looking forward to the next post! What a perfect girls trip! 🌴
Savannah is a city after my heart! it’s easy to navigate, has load of history and great restaurants! what more could you ask for?
oh, that’s right, shopping!
A great look for shopping. You look cool and comfortable but still have that polish. I love the Belt and shoes. Black is just too harsh for summer for me but brown feels right.
i love both black and brown for summer but i’m happy to hear brown is up your alley!
Beth, you’re lifting my spirits with thought of actually going to the shops! I live in Ontario Canada and we’re just beginning a partial opening of some stores and patio dining at restaurants. I’ve enjoyed your daily uplifting tips. Thanks!
nothing makes me happier to hear than this! take heart, you’re slowly opening back up and life will return to a new normal.
The whole combo is adorable!!
the way you wear it also.
Thank you for sharing.
Enjoy your trip
Savannah is simply an easy town to visit.
Love all the summer outfits but unfortunately up in Canada, I’d love ideas what to wear in the cold or wet weather!
there are six years of posts to peruse. the shoulder seasons here in Georgia March, April and May or September or October would be
the months i would check first. hope this helps.
You look sooo cool, in every sense of the word.
thanks, samantha! you made my day!
Hi Beth
I am so glad to see you have an outfit for shopping. I see people so horribly dressed (or undressed) at the mall or other shopping areas, it’s good to see you looking so put together. I can create a similar outfit from my closet. I would include the Panama hat from Nordstrom that I ordered awhile ago because I can’t be in the sun without one and just ordered the straw tote. I haven’t been shopping since last October so will make it an event and look good too. I loved Savanna but didn’t see any of the things in your post. Would like to go back sometime
thank you for the lovely compliment!
This is a great look! so cool and comfortable and chic at the same time. looks like you had a great time in Savannah!
it’s always fun to travel with your best girlfriend
I really like this outfit! Comfortable and classy. Just watched a Netflix show on food in Savannah and thought of you. You should watch it, had me drooling 🤤 Fresh, Fried and Crispy
it’s a foodie town for sure!
Best outfit i think you have worn. Just perfect
thanks, carol! that’s high praise indeed.
This is one of your bests posts. All the descriptions are so good you make me want to return to Savannah. Another stop (if you’re interested in history) is the boat museum. They have authentic models of wood built ships. Thanks for the virtual trip to Savannah!
just love Savannah! it’s unpretentious but oh so good!
Love the look. You are always so confident.
thank you for the lovely compliment!
I live in Charleston and still love to shop Savannah! These two have aged with grace and charm that is shared with all who visit.
i absolutely love the history, architecture, and all of the a-ma-zing restaurants these two cities offer.
Beth, you are a wonderful travel guide! How about Charleston? We’ve been wanting to go there.
Charleston is lovely. overcrowded these days but I’ll always love pay a visit. you should definitely put her on your list!
Oh isn’t Savannah a dream?! I never want to leave her.
So glad you and your friend had a visit together.
I have the Banana Republic pants in olive and sand. I love the fit, wrinkles not so much. But if you’re running w/the linen crowd who cares?
Stay cool😎
exactly! life is too short to worry about a wrinkle or two.
