what’s on trend? florals for fall

florals for fall

we all know florals for spring isn’t groundbreaking news. at least according to miranda priestly! but florals for fall? yes, please. especially since florals for fall is on-trend. that’s right, florals big and small are here to stay for the duration of fall.

fall hasnโ€™t quite arrived to athens, but itโ€™s just around the corner. the humidity has dropped, and while itโ€™s still hot as hades, iโ€™m looking for outfits that i can wear in the waning weeks of summer and easily restyle and retool so that theyโ€™re wearable in the fall too.

transition outfits are key to any wardrobe. whether weโ€™re heading from summer into fall or fall into spring—outfit restyling is not only practical but extremely economical. so, next time youโ€™re in the market for a new dress in august, ask yourself whether you can layer a jacket on top of it and wear it in october. not only does that take (some of) the thinking out of looking good, but itโ€™s easy on the purse too—which is never a bad thing. like florals for fall.

florals for fall

in that spirit, iโ€™ve chosen a simple flutter-sleeve dress with a black and white floral print from my all-time favorite designer Ralph Lauren. the dress is perfectly patterned for both late summer and fall. remember? it’s all about florals for fall. but i couldn’t resist adding a pop of color with a red handbag from Tory Burch.

if youโ€™re contending with 90 degree days like i am, leave the jean jacket at home and accentuate the dress by styling it with a classic panama hat

but if fall comes early in your neck of the woods, donโ€™t hesitate to throw on a jacket or pair of riding boots and head out the door.  because summer is still going strong here in athens, iโ€™ve chosen a pair of slingback suede wedge espadrilles. not only do they pair perfectly with this floral dress, but tread lightly, and youโ€™ll be able to pull them back out in spring.

florals for fall

all right, gang.  with labor day behind us,  letโ€™s all take our collective breath before the holiday season is upon us.  enjoy the last light of the fading summer sun. and don’t forget florals for fall is an easy way to transition to fall.

Good afternoon, Beth. You are right on all counts… I bought a long floral vest that I intend to wear styled in many ways, in at least 3 seasons. Thank you so much for your inspiration and joy of life! Sending many healing hugs.

    1. thanks so much, lea! i’ll take every single hug. xo

i’m sorry but I just can’t get into the longer lengths and the more relaxed fit of today’s OOTD. These features drag a person down and add lbs that we don’t need. The dress looks like something my mother would have worn back in the 40’s. Love the sandals.

    1. what do you think good old ralph thinks about that? i dunno but i defer to his good judgement. but, hey, if it isn’t your cup of tea then it isn’t your cup of tea. that’s what style is all about. personal preference.

  5. Love the dress. Looks great on you. I can easily see a jean jacket paired with this dress when cooler weather arrives.

You carry this ootd beautifully! I do like the feminine flow of the floral dress and love those shoes! I picked up the darling red purse matches the doors you were in front of, red pops! All the best lovely lady!

  7. Tina

Beth, I love the dress! Is it retro? Absolutely, but it looks great! The only thing that would have made it better and more updated is to wear it with black booties. Now that would have really looked fashionable!

Hi Beth, what a lovely dress, it looks great with the hat too. We moved house and have internet now so I’ve been catching up with your posts from Sept 2nd and and helped me relax from the stress of it. You’ve had some lovely outfits, nice to see you without the sunglasses, not that you don’t look good with them, along with a smile even though it’s not easy. I think the addition of the video too is a great idea xoxo

Nobody does it like Ralph! You look classy, flirty , and fabulous.

I like the red bag with it! Nice pop of color. Looks elegant in motion, too–I do like the longer length. It’s feminine and nice variety with all the short things we wear in summer. I agree–the red door is perfect for your locale today.

I read recently if a woman is under 5’4″ the floral prints should be small. Do you agree?
