we’re chasing the chill away here in georgia as the rain continues and the temps hovered in the low fifties. today’s ootd is all about simplicity and warmth. ‘cuz baby it’s cold outside! a monochromatic look is easy to pull together in the morning. and there’s no better way to play it than with head-to-toe black. a pair of red flats would look adorable paired with these ankle pants. but even i wear socks on occasion so i played it safe with black wedge booties. now all that’s left to do is add a contrasting color to keep the look modern and fresh. and what better way than with a pop of red that would make santa proud. a red and black houndstooth scarf is the finishing touch that elevates the ootd from ordinary to extraordinary. winter, i’ve got your number.

You are looking good in your Red and Black! A fine color combo for an Athens-dweller!
you are so right, janie! this would be perfect for a football game, but it doesn’t seem as if the temps dip until after the season is finished.

Red is your color! The houndstooth check scarf is the perfect accessory. It’s raining here today with temps in the mid-40’s. We knew cold weather would arrive sooner or later…ugh… xoxo
winter has decided to pay a visit. most of the country is in a deep freeze with lot’s of snow. it was only a matter of time.

I love the bright red. I’d seen that coat–it reminds me a little bit of the JCrew “cocoon-style” coat. I like the pockets on this one. The long scarf enhances this a lot: black and red is so eye-popping and bright. You look great!
And where are you? I love those ground-to-ceiling shuttered windows with the wreaths. Reminds me of Charleston or Savannah.
i wish i were in charleston! but the photos were taken in athens. there are lots of old houses that have been converted to business properties. but the large windows and black shutters were the perfect backdrop to this beautiful red coat!

Baby, it’s -33C outside! The only way to get around is with long underwear under everything, a parka, hat, scarf, mittens, Sorels…which is why I will never blog fashion. Even cameras don’t work very well outside in this. Sigh.
it was only a matter of time before old man winter made an appearance. hangeth thou in there!

Love that coat! I have started a colored coat collection and am so anxious to wear it!

i bet the temps are finally chilly enough to break out one of your coats, nikki! here in athens it’s been darn cold. and it looks as if it’s going to stay that way for awhile.

Love the red times 2!
awww, thanks, nina! love a pop of color on a dreary day.
