The holiday season is my favorite time of year for one good reason. It gives us plenty of reasons to try out more creative makeup looks that we wouldn’t typically wear when it’s NOT the party season!
From Thanksgiving until the New Year, this is the time to step out of the ho-hum boring makeup box and ramp up our looks to reflect this festive season of life. Whether you’re attending a big fancy black tie party or just a small family gathering with cocktails by the fireplace, I want to give you 3 holiday makeup looks you should try that do NOT include the obvious Christmas red lip!
Keep reading to see which of these 3 looks suits your holiday vibe…
Today, Jennifer is sharing 3 holiday makeup looks you should try
From Silver Bells to Blue Christmas to Mistletoe Green, Jennifer is sharing tips to pull of each look
This look could truly be interchanged to reflect silver OR gold bells! Either way, metallic metal shades will steal the spotlight for the holidays and make you shine like a star!
Keys to nail the look :
Jewel toned eyeshadow looks are very exquisite during the holidays. The boldness of this icy blue shadow is ideal for when you want to really make a sophisticated statement. And go big or go home by rimming the entire eyelid in shades of deep blue!
Keys to nail the look :
Are you craving something super fierce to stand out this holiday season? Then go emerald green on the eyelids which will be a show-stopper of a look! I went for a matte green on the lid but grounded it with a warm brown along the crease of the eyelid to make it a bit more wearable. Keep the cheeks and lips more neutral so that your green lids take center stage!
Keys to nail the look :
Which look would you be willing to try this holiday season? If you'd like to hear about some of my favorite Christmas red lip shades as a future post, let me know. I have opinions on that topic 🙂

These colours look beautiful on your youthful brown eyes which have loads of lid space. What colours would you recommend for older hooded eyes that are green or blue?
Great ideas for the 20 somethings. How about a few ideas for those of us who are “a certain age”? I’m almost 70 and would look like an crazy old lady in these looks.
Hi Patti,
All of the beauty posts are targeted at 40+ women who all fall under a certain age. Maybe we can zero in on each decade for a one-off post. 40s one month, 50s next, then 60s, 70s and beyond. One thing is certain, there is no expiration date when it comes to style or beauty. And it’s important to stay abreast of trends whether we choose to incorporate them or not. That’s what keeps us modern, fresh, and relevant. And I highly doubt you would look like a crazy old lady if you incorporated one or two of today’s beauty tips.
Happy Thanksgiving.
At 57 I generally find Jennifer’s posts relevant to me. I think that hooded eyes are not decade specific. I think that brown eyes look gorgeous with these tones. I have a purple palette that I love with my green eyes. I can adapt these techniques to play with that.
Oh What Fun! That was a great post. Love the idea of trying fun “party eyes” especially since most of the gatherings this time of year, at least for me, are with close family and friends. Thanks for the tips! Now, for a question: my foundation disappears from my nearly 70 year old skin too quickly. DO I need a primer first? Would that help? I “set” it with a light dusting of powder but it still doesn’t want to last. HELP!
Fabulous! I love to play around with eye make-up. Such fun! Jennifer, you look gorgeous in all these looks. I love the silver.
