6 Fall Holiday Bakes

With the holiday season on our minds, today I have 6 sweet bakes that capture the flavors and scents of the Autumnal Season. Whether you’re looking for a dessert or sweet breakfast, or you’re tasked with bringing a dessert to a Fall Holiday gathering (Friendsgiving, anyone?), these 6 fall holiday bakes tick all the boxes.

6 Fall Holiday Bakes

1. Cranberry Orange & Ginger Scones

Hello! Welcome to Djalali Cooks. Today’s sweet recipe is a great breakfast or tea time snack. We have done Lemon Poppy Seed Scones, and while those are great, I have to say I love to have dried fruit in my scones. The light and fluffy, biscuity texture of the scone is wonderful with the chewy flecks of dried fruit. Dried cranberries and candied, dried ginger dot these orange scented scones for a complex and delicious bite. Let’s get right to it!

2. Baked Apple Cider Donuts

Hello and welcome! For a sweet treat today, I have Baked Apple Cider Donuts. Fall’s favorite hand-held confection, Baked Apple Cider Donuts are cakey and soft. They are best enjoyed warm, preferably with a hot cup of coffee on a cool, crisp morning. I did buy a donut pan specifically for this recipe, but you can make these in muffin tins. Even though the muffin tin version is missing the characteristic donut hole, they come out like muffin tops. Let’s get right to it!

3. Neapolitan Semolina  Cake w/ Citrus and Cardamom

Hello and welcome! Today we are making a Neapolitan Semolina Cake (Migliaccio di Semolino), which is like a cross between cake and flan; its texture is dense and creamy, yet it’s light and refreshing. The flavor is only lightly sweet, perfumed with citrus, vanilla and spice. This cake’s base is a semolina porridge, mixed with ricotta and eggs. I found this recipe in the latest issue of Cook’s Illustrated and it sounded so interesting, I thought it would be fun to try. So let’s do it!

4. Cranberry Clafoutis

Hello and Welcome! Holiday baking season is in full swing and this year, I have a renewed interest in baking sweets. I suppose the finale of this year’s Great British Bake Off finds me missing my weekly visits to the Bake Off tent. While I revisit past GBBO seasons on Netflix, I will also revisit holiday baking. To ease myself into it, I am starting with one of my favorites: The French dessert, Clafoutis. Clafoutis is a custardy cake-like dessert that is only lightly sweet and usually features fruit like dark sweet cherries. In keeping with the season, today we are making a Cranberry Clafoutis. Let’s bake!

5. Cranberry Curd Tart

Hello and welcome to Djalali Cooks! I am closing the book on Thanksgiving 2021 today with a beautiful dessert; a great alternative to a lemon tart on your Thanksgiving Table. Not only that, this gorgeous, ruby-hued tart deserves a spot on any holiday table. I found this particular recipe for a Cranberry Curd Tart on NYT Cooking, and I have made a few modifications that make this dessert a whole lot faster and easier. Let’s get right to it!
