Happy Sunday, ladies! It’s probably not totally surprising when I say that I get a lot of reader questions on how to build a classic wardrobe. And while today I’m going to show you 7 stylish outfits you’ll wear again and again, I also wanted to share my thought process when building outfits. Here are 5 guiding principles helpful when putting together your wardrobe.
- Create a style uniform. This is an outfit you can pull together in minutes yet confidently walk out the door. My style uniform is nicknamed the 4Bs: blazer, button-down, blue jeans, and ballet flats. For summer, think of a poplin shirt paired with Bermudas. For fall, think sweater and blue jeans.
- When shopping for clothes, think of three ways you can style any item you purchase. It’s the rule of 3.
- Choose the Hero piece. Whether a skirt with a bold pattern, a simple cable knit sweater, or even a pair of snazzy shoes, this one item is the starting point of your outfit.
- Add a third layer. Blazers, jackets, jewelry, or a scarf are considered a third layer.
- Add a trendy item to give classic style new life.

Would like to see a little more feminine clothing mixed in with the items you have posted. Also, some in plus size, not all of us are a size 10.
The blog features a Petite size 0 and Misses size 8. But there’s loads of inspiration with our style boards created for any size.
I think your hair would look nice styled like Hoda or Helen Morten.
I love both hairstyles. Thanks for the suggestion.
I love your posts but lately I find your make up makes you look tired or washed out. You are beautiful brighten it up in my opinionโฆhugs
Thank you? Isn’t it funny, but I’ve never had more compliments about my makeup, especially on the YouTube channel. Go figure.
