Thank you for being part of the SaaCA community. Your support truly means the world.

For years, Fridays at Style at a Certain Age had a rhythm all their own.

We eased into the weekend together — a cocktail, an appetizer, a little style, and, of course, Oscar. My beloved German Shepherd was more than a handsome face around here, although goodness, he was certainly that. Oscar became part of the SaaCA family, and I know many of you looked forward to seeing him on Fridays as much as anything else I shared.

But Fridays with Oscar were never really about what we were serving or what we were wearing. It was about slowing down at the end of the week — taking a breath, setting out something simple and delicious, pouring a cocktail or a mocktail, and making room for a little joy. Oscar had a way of making even the most ordinary Friday feel like an occasion.

As many of you know, Oscar passed away last December. Losing him was heartbreaking. Anyone who has ever loved a dog knows they are never “just a dog.” They are companions, shadows, greeters, protectors, comedians, and keepers of our daily routines. Oscar was all of that — and then some.

So today, I want to pause and honor what Fridays with Oscar meant. To me, to Kelly, and to this community. It was a sweet chapter at SaaCA, and I am deeply grateful for the years we shared it with you.

fridays with oscar

And Oscar’s isn’t the only chapter turning. Kelly, who has been part of so many of these Fridays behind the scenes, is setting off on a new adventure of her own — and we wish her every good thing. Over the years, Kelly brought so many wonderful recipes to Fridays with Oscar — the appetizers you saved, the cocktails you mixed for your own Friday evenings, the dishes that found their way into your weekend rotations. Those recipes live on right here on the blog, and every time you make one, a little bit of this sweet chapter carries forward. If there’s anything this season of life keeps teaching me, it’s that nothing ever stays quite the same. Seasons change, and so must we. I’ve learned to meet those changes with an open heart — because more often than not, they’re making room for something wonderful.

So it feels right to let Fridays with Oscar rest now — with gratitude, not goodbye. I won’t try to recreate it, because some things are special precisely because they belonged to a particular season of life.

But Friday isn’t going anywhere.

In fact, a new Friday series arrives soon: Weekend Notes: Atlanta.

As I settle into my new Atlanta apartment, I’ll be sharing a fresh take on weekend living — city style, small-space decorating, cocktails and appetizers, dinner plans, what to wear, where to go, and the little rituals that make a weekend feel special. For years, Oscar gave Fridays their name. Starting soon, Fridays will arrive as notes — from a new city, a new chapter, the same Friday spirit. And I cannot wait to take you along for the ride.

There will be outfits, of course. There will be home decor. There will be a cocktail or two, because some traditions deserve to be carried on. (And yes — Ollie will undoubtedly claim the best seat in the apartment, so the supervision will continue.) Most of all, there will be plenty of inspiration for making the most of this season of life, wherever you call home.

Thank you for loving Oscar, for showing up on Fridays, and for being part of this community through every chapter. SaaCA continues to evolve, as all good things do, but the heart of it remains exactly the same: style, beauty, home, good food, good company, and finding joy in the everyday.

Oscar will always be part of that story.

And now, we turn the page.

    Dear Beth,
Well put, as an author might! Sweet and Regal Oscar will always be in my heart. I look forward to this new chapter of Fridays … and more wonderful posts.

This is one of the most heartfelt posts I’ve read in a long time. Oscar will always be the
#childwithfur that we all loved. Wishing Kelly the best on her new adventure. And, looking forward to your next chapter with anticipation. Best of luck to you Pretty Lady! 🩷🌸

    1. Beth Djalali

Thank you so much for this beautiful note. Oscar truly was our #childwithfur, and it means so much to know he was loved by this community. I’m grateful for your kind wishes for Kelly and for this next chapter — change is always bittersweet, but I’m excited for what’s ahead. 🩷

      1. Dottie Kinnaman

Beth, I’m interested if you’re willing to share what inspired you to acquire an apartment in Atlanta. Your home in Athens is beautiful.

        1. Beth Djalali

I will be splitting time between Athens and Atlanta. With my granddaughter June growing like a weed and another one on the way I wanted to spend more time close by without a 90 minute drive home after Sunday dinner.
It’ll be the best of both worlds!

          1. Dottie Kinnaman

            ❤️❤️

  8. Violet

Beautifully written! Best of luck with Atlanta, can’t wait to see and hear all about it.

    1. Beth Djalali

Thank you so much! I’m excited to share this new Atlanta chapter — the apartment, the outfits, the little routines, and all the weekend discoveries along the way. ❤️

  9. sherry ulrich

So looking forward to your new Friday posts. I will miss Kelly, as I am 5’3″ and so enjoyed her tips on the petite posts. Good luck to her and you with your new adventures in Atlanta, though still look forward to your posts from your house also. I so enjoy your styling tips the most.

    1. Beth Djalali

Thank you so much. Kelly’s petite posts were such a wonderful resource, and I know many readers appreciated her perspective. I’m wishing her all the best in her next chapter, too. And yes — you’ll still see posts from home as well as Atlanta. The styling tips aren’t going anywhere; they’re the heart of what we do here. ❤️

  10. Carolyn

Oscar will always be in our hearts. I’m excited for you and Kelly and the next chapter.
I’m hoping my post shows up because lately they have seemed to disappear.

    1. Beth Djalali

Ah, yes — she probably means her **email replies/comments aren’t showing up**, or she isn’t seeing the email/post consistently. I’d answer a little more broadly and reassuringly:

Thank you so much. Oscar will always have a very special place in my heart, and it means so much that he touched yours, too. I’m grateful for your excitement as we step into this next chapter.

And thank you for letting me know about your posts/emails seeming to disappear. I’ll keep an eye on that from our end — sometimes technology has a mind of its own, doesn’t it? ❤️

  11. Kathy

  21. Katherine

    Hi Beth,
I love the pictures of Oscar. I can only imagine how much Oscar is deeply missed. Our fur children become such a HUGE part of our lives. When they go to heaven we are never quite the same again. We carry them in our hearts forever.
With Kelly starting her new chapter it will be a change for you. You made an amazing team. Change is a constant isn’t it?
I’m excited and happy for you getting all set up in your new apartment. Opening a new chapter. Life is exciting.
I’m sure you will set up a beautiful cozy, welcoming, and comfortable space for yourself.

    1. Beth Djalali

Thank you so much for this beautiful note. Oscar is deeply missed, and you’re so right — our fur children become part of the rhythm of our days, and we carry them with us always.

Kelly and I did make a wonderful team, and I’m wishing her all the best as she begins her new chapter. Change really is constant, isn’t it? I’m excited for this next season in Atlanta and looking forward to creating a cozy, welcoming little space that feels like home. ❤️

Saying Thank You! seems inadequate. My goodness you certainly capture life and all the twists and turns so well, you really do bring peace and joy to my heart with every single read. Bless you for that I guess is another way to express thanks for you and all you do.

    1. Beth Djalali

Your note touched my heart more than you know. Thank you for such generous words. Life certainly does come with its twists and turns, and if sharing mine brings even a little peace or joy to your day, then I am deeply grateful. Bless you for being here and for taking the time to write such a beautiful message. ❤️

  24. Nicole Long

Yes, we all love our dogs. We have had several dogs, and all of them have been so precious to us. We have a little cava-poo named Skyler, and we love her so much!

Kelly will be missed. We enjoyed her fashion and her recipes.

Changes can be hard, but you have such wonderful memories to treasure. Now you will make more memories that you will treasure.

I love the city, so I am excited for your next adventure. It’s an exciting time for you and exciting for your followers.
God bless you in your adventure.

    1. Beth Djalali

Thank you so much for this lovely note. Dogs really do become such precious members of the family, don’t they? Skyler sounds absolutely wonderful.

Kelly will certainly be missed, and I’m so glad you enjoyed both her fashion and recipes. Change can be hard, but you’re right — the memories are treasures, and there are new memories waiting to be made. I’m excited to share this next city chapter with you and so grateful for your blessing and support. ❤️

Oh goodness, I can’t believe I’m tearing up. I’ve enjoyed these Fridays for a quite a while now … the clothing, the recipes, the beverages and, of course, Oscar (and Ollie). I’ll miss Kelly but wish her well in her endeavor. I’m looking forward to the new Friday posts, Beth! Change is hard but it is a good thing, too. Thank you.

    1. Beth Djalali

Thank you so much. Fridays with Oscar became such a special rhythm here — the outfits, recipes, beverages, Oscar nearby, and Ollie making a cameo appearance, too. I’ll miss that chapter dearly, and I know Kelly will be missed as well. Change is tender, but you’re right — it can also make room for something good. I’m grateful you’re looking forward to the new Friday posts with me. ❤️

  26. Francine Harding

    Dear Beth,
This new chapter in your life (and ours!) is so exciting! Change can be daunting, but it keeps us young and alert! It’s much easier to keep doing the same things, but where’s the fun and challenge? I’m looking forward to your new apartment. You’re always full of good ideas and you keep inspiring me! Keep up the good work!

    1. Beth Djalali

Thank you so much for this wonderful note. You’re so right — change can feel daunting, but it also keeps us curious, engaged, and open to new adventures. There is comfort in the familiar, but there’s also joy in stretching a little and seeing what’s next. I’m excited to share the apartment and this new chapter with you, and I’m so grateful for your encouragement. ❤️

  27. Lisa

You are such a class act and we will miss the Fridays with Oscar and Kelly. But am really excited for all the new things! Congratulations on your new Atlanta adventure! You work so hard and thank you for all you do! 😇

Such a lovely post ushering us into all things SAACA’s next phase. Such loving, insightful comments. Such personalized responses to those comments from you, Beth, as if each lady is the only one you pour your life into! Come December, it will be 10 years God brought you into my life as I emerged from a year of poor health. Fast forward through several more challenging years, with Style keeping my focus on looking better than I felt! Pleased to report that the last 2-3 months am feeling better than I have in the last 10 years. Rejoice with me! You, Kelly, sweet Oscar, special Ollie, have been very inspirational on that journey. So with a salute to the old, and cheers to the new, Atlanta, brace yourself for SAACA and all it will bring you, even if only part-time. Love to you, Beth 💛

    1. Beth Djalali

Sylvia, what a beautiful note. Thank you so much. Ten years — my goodness, that touches my heart. You have been such a faithful reader and friend to SaaCA, and I’m deeply grateful you’ve been here through so many chapters.

I’m especially thankful to know SaaCA has been part of your journey through difficult seasons, when style became a small way to feel more like yourself. And yes, I absolutely rejoice with you! What wonderful news that you’re feeling better than you have in years. That is something to celebrate.

Thank you for your love for Kelly, Oscar, Ollie, and this community. Here’s to saluting the old, cheering the new, and seeing what this next Atlanta chapter brings. Love right back to you. 💛

  29. Tami Eppley

Best of luck to you and Kelly in the next chapter of your life’s journey. I enjoyed Fridays with Oscar and look forward to seeing your new apartment evolve. Blessings to you both and what precious memories you have to carry with you!

Kelly and I are both stepping into new chapters, and I’m wishing her every good thing. I’m excited to bring you along as the Atlanta apartment evolves — one cozy little step at a time. ❤️

  30. Becky

Thank You for sharing, you do have a gift of fashion, style and writing.
You’ve allowed so many of us into your life, as we all know life will change… and its up to us to either change with it, or grow stale. Its comforting to share the changes, knowing we’re not the only ones who face them along with challenges. That in itself is comforting and eses the pain of change and loss.
So a TOAST to the new beginnings!!

    1. Beth Djalali

Thank you so much for this beautiful note. Life does change, doesn’t it? And you’re so right — we can either change with it or grow stale. I’ve always believed there is comfort in sharing the twists and turns, because none of us walks through change, challenge, or loss alone.

I’m grateful you’ve been here for the style, the stories, and the seasons of life we’ve shared together. So yes — a toast to new beginnings, with gratitude for all that came before. 🥂❤️

Your kind words mean the world to me, and I’ll be sure to say hello to my darling DIL. ❤️

  32. Sandy Hynek

This makes me sad all over again. The hardest, losing a pet, especially one that got us through losing a husband! Life goes on but boy, I miss my Ivy girl after almost 11 years! Wishing you peace Beth.

    1. Beth Djalali

Thank you so much. I know exactly what you mean — life does go on, but love leaves such a lasting imprint. Losing a beloved dog is its own kind of heartbreak, and missing your Ivy girl after all these years says everything about how deeply she was loved. Wishing you peace as well. ❤️

  36. Arna Bronstein

We will always remember Oscar with love. I wish Kelly all the best in her new endeavor. I look forward to your new Fridays.
Time with grandchildren is the absolute best. There is nothing like it. I am taking care of our new granddaughter every day until the fall when she will go to daycare. Her brothers (entering kindergarten in teh fall) are the very best; they love her so much, and we love spending time with them all.
    All the best.

    1. Beth Djalali

Thank you so much. Oscar will always be remembered with so much love, and I know Kelly appreciates all the kind wishes as she begins her new endeavor.

And yes — time with grandchildren truly is the absolute best. What a gift that you’re able to care for your new granddaughter every day, and how sweet that her brothers already love her so much. Those are the moments and memories that matter most. I’m excited for this next chapter and grateful to have you along for the new Fridays. ❤️

  37. Jennifer C

Ahhh, change. Something I am continually trying to embrace as a new adventure instead of dreading the change itself. Looking forward to some new activity and new inspiration as you enjoy this new season. I know you will once again show us all how to do that with fun, adventure and style! Thank you for being so generous with your ideas. I look forward to it all.

    1. Beth Djalali

Thank you so much. Ahhh, change indeed! It can be hard to embrace at first, but I do think it helps to see it as a new adventure rather than something to dread. I’m excited to share this next season with you — a little fun, a little inspiration, and, of course, plenty of style along the way. ❤️

    Dear Beth,

Congratulations on approaching this new chapter of your life with excitement and courage. We have all laughed with you, cried with you and everything in-between as we share your journey through life. Oscar has certainly been missed but he will remain in all our hearts, he was a beautiful boy and a loving companion to you when you needed him most. We are all excited to continue on your journey with you and also wish Kelly lots of luck in her new venture.
Life is good, let’s all live it to the full!!

  40. Elizabeth

Good luck in your new adventures. Changes are always difficult but it sounds like you are ready for a new adventure. Good luck to Kelly in her new chapter as well

  41. Shannon

Hi Beth, I have followed you for years, I noticed your post about Oscar, it was so touching and inspiring as you collect up your courage for your next chapter! I closed my fitness business in LA after 32 years, sold my home, and moved to Northern California in a new apartment and a new adventure! You have always been a role model for me and I’m so excited for you in your new chapter!Wishing you all things good and all things sacred, still following you! Hugs,Shannon Oldberg

  42. Rebecca

I was so sad to read about Oscar. The way you shared his personality, and unwavering companionship made him unforgettable. Losing a beloved pet leaves such a huge space in our hearts.

And then reading that Kelly is moving on as well reminded me how life is constantly changing, often in ways we don’t expect. It can be bittersweet to say goodbye to cherished companions and familiar chapters, but your ability to embrace change with grace and optimism has always been one of the things I admire most about you.

Thank you for continuing to share your journey so authentically. While some doors close, new opportunities, relationships, and adventures have a way of appearing when we least expect them. Wishing you comfort in remembering Oscar, excitement for what lies ahead, and all the joy that comes from the next chapter.

Beth, I did tear up, as so many of the ladies did as well. You truly have a gift with words, which we know is what started your amazing journey. Thank you for verbalizing what so many of us feel about this season. The change is constant and how we deal with it is so important. I wish Kelly the best and I am excited to see your future content. Being a grandmother is very special and they grow up so quickly so enjoy every moment. Wishing you the best of luck, blessings and sending a hug. Thank you for the inspiration over the years! Cheers 🥂

I will be sorry to not see as much of Kelly as I am of similar height to her. I wish her well. I am looking forward to the new chapter that is ahead and wish you well for your future plans Beth.

    Hi,
Best of luck to Kelly as she starts a new chapter. I have loved what she’s added to the blog and have eagerly read about your lovely Friday soirees.
I decided to search on your site to find out about the Friday cocktails and bites you enjoyed last year at this time. Unfortunately, the search function is not working for your recipe index. I could get to the search page but from there…nothing happened. I tried on a MacBook and also on an IPhone. I hope it can be fixed because I think many of us would enjoy this wonderful resource.

Have you sold your house? I am wishing you everything good as you turn the page.

While Oscar will always be missed and Kelly, also, I have been with you since Oscar was small and plan to continue to be. Thank you for taking us along with you. Apparently two of my grandchildren will be making careers in Atlanta, and one is already. I look forward to hearing more about your area.

Let’s go, I’m ready! I’m 73 and excited about the new adventure!
