Ingredients
4 ounces tomato juice
4 ounces beer
1 tbs lime juice
Splash of Worcestershire sauce or hot sauce
Happy Howlween, gang! At least, itβs howleeween if Oscar is involved. No, he doesnβt have a costume. And you might be wondering can mature women still dress for Halloween?Β Yes, indeed! Youβre never too old to pull together a costume and head to a Halloween party which is on the calendar for Saturday night. I could have gone as Cruella de Ville or the Wicked Witch of the West as I have all the makings for those characters. But I thought it would be fun to pull something together from my closet.
Β Can mature women still dress for Halloween? Yes, indeed.Β And I'm going as Rosie the Riveter.
Β I've got a simple denim outfit for you today, styled 3 ways
Β Everything is shoppable via text- and image-widgets
Β Plus, because it's Friday, I have a super simple cocktail and recipe to get you in the holiday spirit
Enter Rosie the Riveter!Β A chambray or denim shirt paired with dark rinse denim, combat boots, and a red bandana scarf tied the way Rosie did way back when. How easy is that?
What would Rosie drink after a hard day at the factory? I thought Rosie would love a beer but not just any beer. A Michelada or Mexican Bloody Mary is a fun way to serve a cold brew.Β Just be sure to have Modelo or a Corona on hand.
4 ounces tomato juice
4 ounces beer
1 tbs lime juice
Splash of Worcestershire sauce or hot sauce
12 cups air-popped popcorn
3 cups mini-twist pretzels
1 cup roasted, salted peanuts
1 cup candy corn
1 cup Reeseβs Pieces
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
Orange candy melts and sprinkles for garnish
In a very large bowl, mix together the popcorn, pretzels, peanuts, candy corn, and Reeseβs pieces. Set aside.
In a medium saucepan, bring the honey, sugar, salt, peanut butter and butter to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly. Boil without stirring for five minutes. Remove from heat, and drizzle caramel over popcorn mixture. Stir to coat.
Spread the popcorn mixture onto two baking sheets covered in parchment.

Look forward to Oscar Fridays … and you look FIERCE as Rosie! What a great costume. You might walk around in that any day π I’ll look forward to trying your cocktail and munchies recipes. Thanks, and Happy Halloween.
Great costume! Love the bandana! Hi Ollie and Oscar.
Love your Rosie costume..itβs great!
Rosie the Riveter is such a cool costume idea! Will definitely remember that one for a future year.
I agree on never being too old to dress up. I’m ‘only’ 44 and will be dressing up as Professor Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter on Monday. I found a pink tunic sweater with a loose turtleneck (not as loose as cowl though), and a pink boucle pencil skirt at the goodwill, and will be pairing them with white tights and brown kitten heels (was not shelling out for pink shoes for one day!). Repeating a wig I used when I dressed as Julia Child, but adding a pink bow that has a cat pin on it (discovered in my late MIL’s jewellery box). I found a so-hideous-it’s-fabulous cat pin on Amazon and will wear that on the sweater. And then a burgundy faux-fur collar and cuffs, and wand. One mustn’t tell lies!
My 4th grader is going to be Luna Lovegood, and my hubby is going to be a generic Death Eater, so its a cute family theme too. Our neighbourhood goes all out so we’re all super excited!
Fun post!…and you look terrific as Rosie!
Just love your posts, love Jennifer and her tips, love Kelly and her petiteness (me too!)…Have a fun Halloween!
Are you trick or treating with Oscar? Lol!
Happy Howl-Lowe enjoy, Miss Beth and Sweet Pets! πππ»π§π»ββοΈπ€
Love your costume! Several years ago 7 or 8 of my female library coworkers dressed as Rosie for our staff Halloween party. Iβm happy to be reminded of that day.
I look forward to receiving and reading your emails. I have come to realize they bring me great joy.
Thank you ππ½
