Happy Monday, gang! It’s Thanksgiving week, so lot’s of activities as we prep for this special holiday. In my mind, Thanksgiving ushers in the holiday season that spans the five or six weeks that lead up to New Years Day. I’m a traditionalist at heart as my Christmas decorations go up the day after Thanksgiving. That was my mom’s cadence and mine too. I like to celebrate one holiday at a time, even if they’re all crammed together. But you’ll know where I’ll be this Friday as I deck the halls and amp up the Christmas music! This time of year is a hectic time filled with a party or two, a special dinner or two, lunches with gal pals, and of course, our family traditions of trimming the tree, baking cookies, holiday movies, and secret Santa’s. Wherever you are, whatever your schedule entails, it’s always a good idea to have a glitz & glam outfit ready for the holidays!
Yes, the countdown is on for Thanksgiving. This year’s turkey is safely in my fridge. A nice 13 pounder that will be plenty for five, plus leftovers. Who doesn’t love turkey sandwiches?! Kelly and AJ are headed to Tybee for Thanksgiving but the rest of the fam will celebrate in Athens. I always brine my turkey the night before, but I can’t wait to pop it in the oven. There’s nothing better than the smell of a roasted turkey wafting through the house. It conjures memories of my childhood when I eagerly waited for my dad to carve the turkey and dive into a plate heaped with mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and gravy. Yum!
The bookcase is finished – Farrow & Ball Claydon Blue. I finally pulled the trigger and added a home theater to the upstairs! During the basement renovation, I was reminded that it might be a good idea to have more than one television system in play. This space was originally reserved for the bar. But everything is being reassigned thanks to the renovation. When one room gets a facelift, you begin to eye each room in your home with a list of new possibilities. Now the bar will split duties between the dining room and downstairs kitchenette. It’s going to be great!
The main bath will need at least one more coat of paint, maybe two. It’s a deep purple that’s almost black – Benjamin Moore Black Raspberry. I’ve never been a big fan of the black countertop in this bathroom. It’s in the kitchen too… But this paint color helps tone it down. With white accessories scattered throughout, I might finally like this space.
Today’s ootd is one of my favorites to pull together. Over the years, I’ve referred to this style trick as the yin and yang of style. Take one masculine item like a turtleneck and pair it with a feminine item like a sequin skirt. Voila! Instant party outfit. It works every time! This tip can be a lifesaver when invited to a soirée at the last minute with no time to shop for something unique. Both cashmere turtleneck (available in twelve colors) and the sequin skirt (available in black and gray) are from Nordstrom Made brands that are so dang affordable. Honestly, I could have sized down to a small in the turtleneck, so if you’re looking for a slimmer fit, size down. Sometimes I like an oversized look with my sweaters, so I cuffed the sleeves and was ready to roll. The side slit sequin skirt is a dream to wear. It has a smidge of stretch that makes moving and sitting easy peasy. Dress it down with a sweater for a casual chic look, or dress it up with a beautiful blouse for an elegant evening look. Don’t you love choices? This glitz & glam holiday outfit would look fantastic with high heels or kitten heels, especially for nighttime drama. Since this is a casual look, I opted for boots (similar here). But I decided to add more glitz & glam to the outfit with a pair of cubic zirconia earrings and a tennis bracelet. Who doesn’t love a little bling with zing?! I always travel with cubic zirconias, so I never have to worry about losing the real deal. Rest assured, these earrings and bracelet will be in my travel bag on my next trip!

Love your deep purple bathroom! That’s such a fun and different color. I’m wondering with the dark color if it makes the room seem smaller?
