Happy Friday, gang! It’s the last day of the last month of 2021 that happens to land on Friday! Tomorrow we’ll welcome a brand spanking new year into our lives. 2022 here we come!
The blog has had a few technical problems the past few days, so a late post on Wednesday and no post on Thursday… But we’re giving it the old college try again today to say goodbye to 2021. Fingers crossed that the post goes off without a hitch. If you see anything wonky, please know the tech team will step in and figure things out!
This past week, the SaaCA team has been working hard to compile a 2021 rewind on Instagram. I was informed there were 300+ outfits and over 30+ recipes and cocktails. Phew! I’m exhausted just thinking about all the content we put together. But I’m raring to go for 2022! Thank goodness there’s no expiration date on Style. And it’s never too late to start a skincare or exercise routine. In fact, you’re never too old, and it’s never too late to learn a new language, get healthy and fit, or start a business. You’re never too old for anything! I’m thrilled to share the tips and tricks to help us live healthy and vibrant lives no matter what your age. Who knows what challenges 2022 has in store? Or triumphs, for that matter. All I know is if there’s one more day given to me to walk on this earth, then it’s meant to be lived fully and wholly.
This coming year Style at a Certain Age has a few surprises coming your way. Of course, a daily outfit will continue to be dished up, and Fridays with Oscar will still share recipes and cocktails. We’ll continue to focus on fitness, health tips, and skincare. But who knows what traveling will look like in 2022? I have a trip planned to Mexico in March that just might be up in the air? It’s anyone’s guess at this point. But the blog plans to stay modern, fresh, and relevant just like us, so stay tuned! Before we turn the page to a new year let’s take one more look at the posts that resonated with you! We’ll pick back up in July.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is always a big hit with readers. Kelly and I drove to Atlanta for a Dressing Room Diaries post.
Last Sunday, my DIL and I headed to Atlanta for a mini-girls getaway. Let me tell you; we had fun with a capital F. Sunday evening; one of my kiddos and his significant other joined us for cocktails at Le Colonial. What a beautiful restaurant that took me right back to my Vietnam Days. It was part elegant, part exotic, with seamless service and top-notch food. I highly recommend going. Monday morning, Kelly and I packed our bags and headed to Nordstrom and the famed Anniversary Sale. The two of us made this same trek two years ago and found this year’s in-store sale disappointing. The store selection was slim, and finding our sizes proved a challenge. But I’m happy to share Nordstrom Dressing Room Diaries 2021.
Classic Style and classic color combos are a signature of Style at a Certain Age. Back to basics with black and white blog post was a hit with you, coming in second place!
It’s back to basics with black and white. Or is that navy and white? Sometimes, it’s hard to distinguish between black and navy. But this week, we’re looking at the power of neutrals and, in particular black, white, and/or navy. It’s safe to say red, white, and all things blue are popular during the patriotic holidays. And I always embrace my preppy side on the 4th, as it’s fun to add a little whimsy to my outfit. Like the adorable stars shorts I wore for my backyard bbq. But if you want a timeless. Classic and sophisticated look reach for black and white.
Summer shoe trends 2021 was a reader’s favorite and with good reason. Shoes are a great accessory to infuse your personality into an outfit. And they’re an easy way to add trends to wardrobe.
What’s trending for summer 2021? Today, it’s all about summer shoe trends 2021. Shoes are the one accessory that can make or break an outfit. So pay attention when it’s time to make your final selection. If you are in the beginning stages of a wardrobe edit, please make certain you have a black and nude pump on hand. These two shoes simply go with everything and are a worthy investment. After that, the sky is the limit on what shoes to add to your collection. Personally, I have a variety of heel heights, from flats to kitten heels to stilettos. Each of these styles has a time and place depending on what I’m wearing and where I’m going. Ballet flats tend to be workhorses in my closet, as this silhouette goes with skirts, dresses, shorts, and denim. But add a pointy-toed pump to a pair of humble blue jeans, and you’ve created instant chic! Don’t be afraid to experiment with different heel heights to see which ones suit your look best. And if you happen to panic when it comes to adding color to your day-to-day look, shoes are a safe way to infuse a little oomph.

Coming in second place in August was 5 fashion mistakes women make.
Remember the television shows that featured fashion mistakes? The fashion victim was handed over to style experts that gave them a makeover, including hair, makeup, and a closet overhaul. Typically, they were wearing the wrong size clothes or hadn’t updated their hairstyle in years. Or they just didn’t know how to put an outfit together. It’s important to stay modern, fresh, and relevant at any age, but especially as we age. Who wants to look as if they’re stuck in a time warp? Today, we’re looking at 5 fashion mistakes women make and how to correct them.
And the third readers’ favorite post in August was 5 fall classic wardrobe essentials when I partnered with Cyndi Spivey!

The blog had a refresh in mid-September, and y’all tuned in to check out the updates in Style at a Certain Age launches a new website.
It’s here; it’s finally here! This week Style at a Certain Age launches a new website. Since April, we’ve been hard at work behind the scenes to create a beautiful destination for our readers. Ann Parker from Anthem Creative Co. is the mastermind of the new site and has guided me through a thoughtful, thorough, and collaborative strategy over the past few months. The results? A-Ma-Zing! I’m on pins and needles waiting to reveal the new and improved Style at a Certain Age! The launch date is Thursday, September 23rd. But we might have a bump or two along the way as the old site transitions to the new. Style at a Certain Age website will be down on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 21st and 22nd, as the tech team diligently puts all the bells and whistles together. Then on Thursday, we will be back better than ever, ready to deliver all things that help us age with grace, strength, and beauty.
While we can’t age backward like Benjamin Buttons, we can live a healthy and vibrant life 50+ and beyond.
The next readers’ favorite post in September was Staying modern after 50.
Staying modern after 50. Is it possible? Or do we fade away and turn to dust? We’re told not to look like our daughters or granddaughters. And heaven forbid we’re trying too hard. What does that even mean? That we’re not supposed to try? Yes, our bodies start to change after 50 our hair too, thanks to menopause and lower estrogen levels. But haven’t we navigated body changes throughout the years with menstruation, pregnancy, and postpartum blues? Good golly, miss molly, we’ve got this, ladies! Staying modern after 50 is definitely doable. Aging with grace, strength, and beauty has never been more important because we’re paving the way for our daughters and granddaughters. Staying modern, fresh, and relevant is our mantra. And yes, staying modern after 50 is more than possible. today, I have a few tips and tricks up my sleeve.
Self-care is my mantra, and I love sharing self-care tips with you. 10 self-care habits for autumn was a hit!
10 self-care habits for autumn. Why self-care? Why is it important to make room and take time to care for ourselves? The past eighteen months were stress-filled days when far too many of us were isolated and/or binge-watching the news. It’s easy to stop caring about yourself when the news is negative. What’s the point? When that happens, it’s all too easy to become critical, which is linked to depression, anxiety, and body dissatisfaction. Listen to your next conversation with your girlfriends. Are there any statements about weight? Or guilt about food choices? Anyone has to get back on the wagon, whether it’s exercise or a diet? There is far too much emphasis on how women look and not enough about their mental and physical health. Ladies, no outfit will ever look good if we don’t feel good on the inside. Maybe that’s why we’re always on the search for posts that tell us how to “hide ten pounds” instead of looking for ways “to create a healthy body.”

Lovely to have a recap of the past year and looking forward to what you have in store for us next year, Happy new year to you from the UK
happy New Year, to you and yours, Beth. This is a wonderful post, with the collages focused on colour families- perfect!
The only fashion purchases this year for me were inspired by you. That precious beige trench dress and an Italian wool tuxedo style blazer. They look great, go with everything and will last for years. You inspired me to choose favourite retailers for certain garments and watch for their sales. It paid off – 50% off on the dress was nice, but for the wool blazer, it made it affordable. I have always been a quality vs quanta gal, so thanks for helping to make it happen during a difficult time. All the very best for 2022🎁
I like your attitude about the New Year Beth, and I sure have enjoyed your blog this year! Can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2022. Happy New Year!
Loved the outfit collages. I really benefit form your inspirations. Thanks. A healthy and happy 2022 to you and yours.
