Happy happy Friday, gang! We’re cruising through July at a record pace. All I know is that the weather in Georgia has been crazy! First part of summer, we were headed for a drought. Now? More than one thunderstorm has rumbled through town, leaving tree branches and pinecones in their wake. I mention pinecones because they are deadly to my roof and sound like mini explosions when they hit their target!
Last Wednesday morning, around 6 am, a storm woke me from a dead sleep as it rocked and rolled its way through town. Oscar and Ollie decided to join me on my bed as we listened to the rain pelt against my roof. Did I mention that the 4th of July started all the crazy weather patterns with a thunderstorm that wreaked havoc on my neighborhood? Trees were downed along with power lines and I was without power for the better part of the night. Never a dull moment come summer in Georgia.
But, hey, it’s all good because another Friday has come round. Oscar is on hand along with a delicious sheet pan Mediterranean Shrimp dish and a classic cocktail. So come join us as we welcome another summer weekend. We’ll handle the heat in style together today!

The heat has been hovering in the mid-90s, so I’m keeping my cool in a cute pair of khaki shorts from Banana Republic and a dolman sleeve sweater. If you’re not a fan of shorts, simply swap them for linen pants or a skirt. Lots of choices when it comes to beating the heat with style in the 21st century..
Why am I a fan of shorts at 63? It’s simple! My mom wore shorts her entire life. You tend to follow suit when your style icon rocks a particular outfit. But style is always what you feel confident wearing, so feel free to substitute.

Hi Beth, why not wear shorts at 63 I say go for it. Monday and Tuesday this week we had a heatwave we reached 110f at one point, most English homes don’t have air con so we had to keep all the curtains and blinds drawn to help keep the heat out, I’ve never known temps that high in my 62 years.
You know I love a Negroni considering I don’t like Campari, sweet vermouth but I do like gin and all three together for me work. Wishing you Oscar and Ollie a lovely weekend xx

Hello to Oscar! I live for Fridays to see my buddy Oscar. As u know my elderly Rilee passed in March. Seeing Oscar helps mend my heart. Rilee, even tho a Boxer, Shepherd, Pittie mix, was the same coloring as Oscar. You look great today Beth! At 71 I love shorts too even in Wisconsin. You & Oscar are sporting the same colors – black n tan! Love!

I love khaki and black together, it was my regular look for work-outfits. I really loved the navy bermudas and satin blouse you modeled the other day.

Your comment made me laugh! My mother also wore shorts until the day she died at 81. She didn’t always think she looked great in them anymore but was a big believer in comfort. She didn’t have center air in her home. As for me, at 61 I prefer shirts over shorts, we absolutely wear shorts during my morning walks here in steamy Alabama. You look great! And I cannot wait to try that shrimp recipe as I’m beginning a low carb diet. Again! Looks yummy!

That outfit looks fresh and cool. I like the tailored look of the shorts. It’s so hot this Summer – here in NJ and everywhere. I’m 68 and wear shorts when weather dictates. I think every woman, regardless of age or figure type, can wear shorts and look appropriate and nice. If the fabric has some body or crispness and they fit well, it works. I don’t expect my legs to look like I’m 30 or 40. They look fine for my age. No one stares ar one body part anyway – if the outfit is nice, you look nice!
