Happy Monday, ladies! As always, I hope you had a restful weekend. I wanted to kick things off this week by talking a little about how to get out of a fashion rut.
Fashion ruts happen. They're inevitable. We open our closet, and no matter how many items we have to wear, it feels like, well, we have absolutely nothing to wear.
The solution, though, is not to run out and but all new clothes; nor is it to give up and retreat into yoga pants and a tee for the 5th day in a row. (Though a great combo in the right circumstances.)
Oftentimes, the solution is to "keep it simple stupid" and go right back to the basics. When in a fashion rut, try:
Streamlining in these ways is a great way to reconeptualize your wardrobe by focusing on the timeless classics---the essentials. And after you focus on the essentials, you can slowly reintroduce other elements into your outfits like pops of color until suddenly, you've totally emerged from that rut.

The pants are modeled, and I pulled together 2 alternates

Today's featured item is a pair of wide-leg pants from J.Crew. They come in three neutral colors: ivory, navy, and black.
It's no secret that I love this year's wide-leg trend. I've embraced the modern silhouette all Summer long. What I love, though, is that these pants transition into Fall quite nicely, especially in warmer climates like Georgia.
Not only do these pants work well with a short-sleeved top, but they'd pair perfectly with a sweater & button-down combo.

Who doesn't love a cashmere sweater? And this short sleeve one from J.Crew is no exception.
I've stuck with a classic black/white combo today, but the sweater also comes in yellow if you're searching for a color pop this Fall.

Hello Beth!
I love today’s outfit because its simple yet stylish. I could wear Black and White every day!! Thye wide leg pants are bold and truly a statement. Great job!! Since yesterday’s post, I’ve been searching for a Hot Pink Blazer. No luck yet. 🙁 Any suggestions??
Thanks for your ideas!! Karen
I am headed to a conference at the end of the month and bought the matching dress. The blazer also has matching pants: https://rstyle.me/+CMHUVbAJOwMRulfyxEcrYg

Hi Beth!
This is a great post! I frequently feel like I’m in a fashion funk! I buy clothes then think I have nothing to wear. Getting back to basics to alleviate this is awesome advice. Im definitely gonna give it a shot.
Have a quick question. I bought the hot pink trench from Talbots at the beginning of the season. I didn’t get to wear it because it got so warm here (Ohio) so quickly. I was thinking, would this trench work for fall? What do you think? If so would leather shoes/purse work with it? It screams Spring but I’d love to get some wear out if it yet the year.
Many thanks in advance for your thoughts!
Have a great day!
