happy Monday, gang! time is ticking by at a rapid pace. September is coming to an end, which means one thing. the holidays are fast approaching. Halloween is 34 days and counting, 59 days until Thanksgiving, and Christmas is a mere 89 days away. with the supply chain out of whack this year, i’m not sure when to start shopping… me thinks sooner rather than later. waiting until Black Friday seems like a gamble? who knows? welcome to 2021, where flexibility is the name of the game. the good news is we can still amp up our style game while we pivot. y’all know i ‘ve sung the praises of the iconic motorcycle jacket for years. today, i share just how versatile this jacket truly is as i’m styling a black leather moto jacket for day and evening. there’s never been a better time to stay modern, fresh, and most importantly, relevant.
thanks for all of your patience while the new website gets up and running. there are still a few minor tweaks, but all-in-all the transition from old to new went smoothly. see, it’s never too late to try something new, whether that’s an exercise routine, skincare, tweaking your diet, adopting a new trend, or launching a new website. it’s never too late for anything. what choice are you making today to achieve that end goal?
the weather has been absolutely perfect the past week, or so. not only is it time to break out our sweaters but boots too! and my beloved blue jeans are back in action. but nothing makes me happier than donning a moto jacket when the temps cool down. this jacket has staying power and always lands on my top ten list. during the July Nordstrom Anniversary sale, i snagged this little number from Halogen, a Nordstrom Made brand that’s one of my favorites and is so affordable. it’s been featured on the blog several times and is sold out. but how adorable is this quilted faux leather jacket from Halogen? other Nordstrom Made brands i’m fond of is Caslon, Zella for athleticwear, and Nordstrom Signature for unique pieces. it’s one-stop shopping at its best – one reason i love Nordstrom.
today, i’m styling one leather moto jacket (sold out, similar here and here) for day and evening. the daytime version of the mighty motorcycle jacket couldn’t be easier to put together. jeans – check. sweater – check. boots – check. the Chelsea boots are water-resistant and have an on-trend lug sole which keeps this simple outfit modern and fresh. plus, they are such a comfortable boot to wear. a crossbody Coach handbag adds that extra touch.

a few of my favorite things about Nordstrom.
what could be easier than exchanging blue jeans for a midi skirt? and swapping Chelsea boots with a pointed toe bootie? that’s how this ootd transformed from day to evening with ease. the bias-cut silk stretch skirt is from Nordstrom Signature and has a graceful flow. pairing a moto jacket with a skirt gives this outfit a modern touch while chasing the chill away. when those north winds begin to blow, simply add a pair of tights for an extra layer of warmth.

a big thank you to Nordstrom for this sponsored post. and thank you, lovely readers, for supporting the brands that allow me to share fresh content and new ideas.

I love both outfits…however, not a fan of lug-soled boots.
On my size 11 feet, they tend towards a “Frankenstein “ look.
Still trying to get my head around booties and skirts/dresses. But I love the leather jacket with the dress.
Love the new website, too. Brava!
thanks for stopping by, cheryl! i always say it would be a boring world if we all liked the same things. variety is the spice
of life. thanks so much for your sweet compliment!
Congratulations on your new format, Beth. You are such an inspiration. I have also discovered your Instagram site and am loving it. You bring light to our days, which is a sparse commodity these days. Wishing you all the success you deserve 🌷
you are always so thoughtful, andrea! thanks so much for your sweet words!
I usually love your ootd but i can’t quite get my head around the lug boots or the wide cuffed jeans on older women – your outfits are usually right on point. Lug boots on anyone other than a little girl possibly are just ugly and ungainly in appearance. love the jacket and skirt but I think either knee boots or heeled pumps would have looked better, your outfit cuts the legs up in short chunks. I don’t usually comment but this just isn’t a look I want to emulate or even see.
hi nancy! i’ve read many comments from you in the past. completely understand if you don’t like a current trend like lug soles. booties and skirts or booties and dresses have been going strong for several years and look fantastic worn together. but if knee-high boots or pumps are more to your liking accessories are an easy tweak. style is always what YOU feel comfortable wearing. my hope is that women of a certain age step outside their style box from time to time and try something new on for size. you never know. you just might like it!
Ok Beth, new things I am trying:
Lug sole boots. Just ’cause.
Kelly’s recipe for Chicago Dogs. I am not a cook at all so this is a big one LOL.
Updating my resume (to keep me on my toes).
Thank you for the inspiration.
The box we might be in we size ourselves. Why not go big?
The box has an entry and exit 24/7 so it’s all good anyway.
Take care
Sandra
what a fantastic attitude! Kelly is a terrific cook so i bet those Chicago Dogs will be well worth your effort.
gotta go big or go home. right?!
Hi Beth, I love the look of a not so chunky looking combat boot with long midi skirts; I’m the same age as you but feeling a little hesitant to wear them. This was my favorite type of outfit back in the 90’s 🙂 What are your thoughts?
hi suzanne! i love combat boots. i think you should try it. what’s the worst that could happen? you decide you don’t like them after all?
i think you could live with that.
Hi Beth
I love both of these outfits. They are classic with an edge. Great for Fall, too. You look great and are giving me some wonderful ideas. Thank you. The new website is a super update.
Joanie
i am so happy to hear you found a bit of inspiration today. thanks for stopping by.
