Happy 4th, ladies! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and an opportunity to see some fireworks. Unfortunately, our plans were thwarted by the weather! Barely any rain all summer here in Athens except of course on the day we tried to see some fireworks. And let me tell you, did we get hit with a downpour and a windstorm to boot! (We counted at least 5 trees down in our neighborhood.)
Luckily, everyone is OK, and I still got the chance to spend the day with family---all is not lost. And you know what, today is officially the 4th, and we're still in the holiday spirit over here on the blog. So let's spice up our casual wardrobe today with those fireworks I didn't get to see!
Today's featured item is a fireworks tee and a pair of boyfriend chinos from J.Crew Factory/J.Crew
The outfit is modeled, and I pulled together 2 alternates

Today's OOTD is a patriotic, comfy casual outfit. Loving this fireworks graphic tee from J.Crew Factory. Obviously, it's perfect for the 4th, but it would work great throughout the whole Summer and well through Labor Day.
These boyfriend chinos from J.Crew are fantastic. I'm no stranger to boyfriend pants and denim and these are great for warm summer days when I want to wear pants. Cuff them and wear them with sandals, or pair them with sneakers for a day out and about. They'll work with just about anything you throw at them.
I've worn these Hannah Woven Vachetta Slides so many times this Summer, I've lost count. And based on our readers' favorites, so are all of you! Gotta love Talbots to put out quality clothing and shoes. They're one of our favorites for a reason!

Another great outfit. Love the tee!! I wish I would have known sooner because it would have been a good one for today as I’m looking for something festive. One idea might be to post some suggestions for certain holidays early enough so we can order. Just an idea.
Have a wonderful and hopefully no rain
4th. Just an fyi I’ll probably still order the tee and maybe the shorts from Friday.
i know it’s hard to read all of our blog posts but i hope you caught this post from three weeks ago where we talked about gearing up for the 4th of July:

have a safe and happy 4th!
Yes I did miss that one. I’ll pay more attention from now on. Thanks
Happy 4th, Beth! This dyed-in-the-wool patriot has soaked in every single red, white, and blue item you’ve featured so far! You merit an award for the wonderful American-spirit curb appeal of your home, too. Much love from Texas ❤
my mom always decorated for each and every holiday so the nut didn’t fall far from the tree. but the patriotic holidays are my favorite! have a safe and happy 4th, sylvia!
Love this tee shirt but is pretty much sold out in all sizes but the small, x-small etc. Too bad. Have a great 4th of July.
happy 4th, sherry!
Love your new hairstyle, Beth!
How do you do that??
Great outfit! I really like how you created the ruching on the tee, it really elevates it. Happy Fourth of July!
it’s fun to style a simple tee! glad you like it.
thanks, eva! this is what my hair likes to do naturally so not much fuss or muss when it comes to styling.
Super cute outfit, Beth. And I love the way you’re styling your hair these days!
this is what my hair likes to do naturally! i’m just letting it have its way.
I love the tee. It’s very cute & festive. I also love the wreath on your door. I enjoy decorating for each season. It keeps things fresh.
Have a safe & happy Independence Day!
Hi Beth: I have a question. How did you achieve the ruching of the tee? I LOVE that!!!!!

Happy 4th, Beth! Sorry your fireworks-viewing was doused by rain. We are getting so we don’t enjoy the fireworks anymore because our poor rescue dog Blossom absolutely cannot handle them! She was found on the street and we don’t know how long she had been on her own, or what happened to her during that time. But all loud noises are very difficult for her to handle. Anyway, I was happy to read that you are letting your hair do what it wants to, as that is exactly what I am doing as well! I have spent most of my life fighting my curls and forcing a straight bob and when I turned 70 I decided to style much shorter, layered and just let it be curly. I straighten it around my face a bit and that’s it. Easy peasy and I have received so many compliments since then that I’m wondering why I didn’t do it sooner!
So, thanks for being real. I love reading your blog and lifestyle ideas. Keep up the good work!
