Happy Monday, ladies! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Although I'm still in Charlestone until Wednesday, temps are blazing down here in the South. We're looking at the high 90s in Athens for the next week. Yikes. But this heatwave got me thinking about essential transitional clothing.
We usually talk about transitional clothing across season changes. But whether we're going from inside to out or heading out for dinner after a day in the office, Summer days themselves can be challenging to dress for. So, today, I'm featuring some of my favorite transition clothing: a blazer and a dress.
A transition from a day at the office to dinner with friends or your main squeeze doesn’t have to be complicated if you incorporate a blazer or a dress. Today, I'm showing you the perfect Summer transitional outfit.
Today's featured items are a blazer and dress from Ann Taylor
The items are modeled, and I pulled together 2 alternates

I pulled together 5 of my favorite blazers at the end of the post, so make sure to check them out!
My long-time followers know my absolute commitment to blazers. At my core, I'm a classic prepster, and a blazer is always part of my style uniform. They work all year round and can be paired with just about anything: dresses, pants, jeans, skirts, and yes, even shorts.
Nobody does blazers like Ann Taylor. But retailers like Veronica Beard are a go-to for me. If you're looking for more budget-friendly options, make sure to check LOFT and J.Crew Factory.

How adorable is this gingham sheath dress from Ann Taylor? Pair it with a blazer for a put-together office look and then simply drop the jacket and swap your accessories for a more casual evening look. (Plus, does anything say "Summer" more than gingham?)
Loving this dress because of its formal-to-casual flexibility. If you want an even more casual outfit idea, make sure to check out the alternate stylings today. How cute would the dress be styled with a cardigan and sneakers?

What a beautiful picture! That lovely blue outfit next to those gorgeous hydrangeas is stunning. I’ve tried every acid I can find and the best I can do is a sort of lavender/mauve. For the full figured petite, Talbots has the best blazers. I haven’t found any others that fit as well. I really like the way you have been wearing your hair lately. Very feminine
Love this dress and blazer. Did you buy the dress
pretty much to size or did you have to go down a or up a size? Hope you are having fun in Charleston. A town I want to visit sometime.
Such a pretty fresh summer look! I love gingham, & the blue is lovely.
I love the gingham outfit! Even your toenails match! We purchased a house in Savannah yesterday. It is hot, hot, hot here. We’re not used to it coming from Boston. Our blood will thin and we’ll adapt.
Loved everything about todays post! Your hydrangeas are amazing! And I’m going to copy (sincerest form of admiration) your blue mani/pedi.
The hydrangeas make the perfect backdrop for the outdoor photos!
Hi Beth,
The Hydrangeas are beautiful!!
like the way the dress look on you
also your sandals.
Thanks
