Hello friends! I am super excited to be bringing you my first beauty article here on SAACA! And of course, the theme is centered around makeup for the official start of summer which is less than one week away - June 21st to be exact.
And summer is the perfect time to play around with some new colors in your makeup routine. And if you have not ever tried the sweetest fruity shade of PEACH on your eyes, cheeks, or lips, now is the time to experiment with it. It's no coincidence that this southern girl really digs the most universally flattering makeup shade---Georgia peach!
Join us in welcoming our new beauty & makeup contributor, Jennifer
Today, She is sharing the most universally flattering makeup shade
She provides us with tips on how to choose & wear this shade
Jennifer's makeup picks are at the end of the post, so make sure to check them out!
Why PEACH? Because it’s actually a very flattering shade for all skin tones. Simply explained - peach is melting pot of orange, yellow, red and pink. This mix of colors makes it a very universal shade that gives off a healthy vibe when worn on the skin.
You can be super fair or have a very deep complexion, but peach will always give you a fresh warmth and face brightening glow! And isn’t that the whole idea of what we want for our faces during the summertime?
Before I show you ways to inject peach into your makeup routine, here is HOW to PICK your perfect peach shade.
Here’s a rule of thumb:
The darker your skin is, the deeper more intense sides of peach you should go for. Imagine the likes of even bright orange-based peaches, apricot, and deep corals.
Now if you’re on the fairer side for skin, you’ll want to go the opposite way on the color spectrum. Wearing softer and paler shades of peach that might tend to lean more pinky-peach and even creamsicle-like shades will work nicely. Remember that yummy frozen dessert of pale orange and cream mixed?? Very summer-worthy!
There are many ways you can go with peach and it really depends on your comfort level with color. If you are very bold, shades of peach can be very striking when worn as a monochromatic look on the eyes, cheeks AND lips.
However, if you just want to start out slowly experimenting with this shade, the easiest place to start is on the CHEEKS. Everyone can look good in a version of peachy cheeks.
Think the best-selling blush shade by Nars “Orgasm” which is the ultimate blend of peach and pink! I’m wearing a similar version of that iconic shade in the It Cosmetics Bye bye Pores blush in “sweet cheeks.” You can wear liquid or cream formulas if you have drier skin and a traditional powder formula if you’re more comfortable with that and tend to have super oily skin.
Then I’d go for the LIPS. You can wear this fruity hue in a lipstick formula with a matte finish for a sophisticated look. Or, you can go for a glossy finish that feels very playful and peachy! I chose to go for a super pale peach for my look from one of my favorite affordable glosses, the NYX Butter Gloss in “Creme Brûlée.”
Some women get a little intimidated with peach on the EYES, but don’t be! Keep it simple with a sheer wash of your perfect peach shadow shade, then simply add mascara.
You can also take the eye look a step further by sweeping a bronze eyeliner (like I did in this look) along the upper lash line for an eye boost! I mixed a shimmery true peach shadow plus an apricot-like taupe shade together from the Makeup Revolution “Affinity” palette.
But if you don’t want monochromatic, but think only one place for peach isn’t enough - mix it up on two different areas on the face. It’s just makeup and can be removed, so play around with it and have fun until you find the perfect pretty peach combo!
Here are some of my favorite peach makeup recommendations. Exact shades I’m wearing in this post are in parenthesis. And yes, I chose to add peach on all three places - eyes, cheeks AND lips! Let’s go monochrome!
