First off, I don’t like to be rushed. I even have a framed photo in my home office that reads, “Don’t Rush Me.” This is especially true when it comes to my makeup routine…I enjoy being able to take my time! However, being a mom to 3 kids and having to accommodate their busy schedules, sometimes it’s a necessity to have a makeup routine that I can literally do in 5 minutes. So, today I'm showing the elements of a 5 minute face.
And having the right type of products helps make this possible and SIMPLE. Today's post is going to be taking you through the steps to getting a face that feels put together and polished no matter what!
Today, Jennifer is showing us the 5 minute face for mature women
With only 6 products, Jennifer has put together a complete face makeup guide
All of the products Jennifer mentions are shoppable inline
I have been really enjoying the light coverage and feel of L’Oreals 4 in 1 Tinted Face Balm, $13. I do apply it with my fingers which is very unlike me, but it works for this product, and works quickly because it’s considered a skincare foundation. I wear color Light 20. It has a firming serum in it and the balm literally melts into my skin and blurry imperfections just enough!
After I even the skin tone, I then move onto eye makeup.
I am using the newest blush and shadow palette from Buxom Cosmetics Hot Toddy, $29.50. It’s a warmer based palette with cinnamons and copper + terracotta shadow shades and the blush is a warm cinnamon pink. If you prefer cooler shades, this Tarte Clay Play Face palette, $49, has plenty of options for shadows and cheeks and even highlighter!
I apply my lightest shade of shadow from lash line to my crease, then a slightly darker shade of brown along my crease to define it. Then I apply a light layer of shadow along the lower lash line, about 3/4 of the way. A quick shadow look is all I do and omit eyeliner.
I always fill in my eyebrows because they are the literally framework of the face and I could never get away with ignoring them! So I easily fill in the bare spots with my Joah Brow Down to Me pencil $10, in “warm brunette” to add some fullness to not so full brows!
Finish of the eye look with a mascara that gives major drama to the lashes since you’re not taking time for liner. I will splurge on the it Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch mascara, $26, every now and then and am reminded how GOOD it is at giving me the fullest darkest eyelashes. I coat the top and bottom lashes to really highlight the eyes.
Now it’s time to brighten the under eyes.
A hydrating concealer is a must to further even out the complexion and take away the look of dark under eyes. I am still a big fan of the Catrice True Skin High Cover Concealer, $8. I’m wearing shade cool cashmere 010. I blend it into the areas of my face that need extra brightening. If you don’t own a great buffing concealer brush, get one ASAP like this BK Beauty A506 brush that blends all formulas so seamlessly.
Adding color to the cheeks and lips are the final touches.
I used the pink blush from the Buxom palette I mentioned above to swipe along the apples of my cheeks for a quick flush of color.
Then I finish off my look with a very wearable nude shade of lipgloss. I am a huge fan of the Maybelline Lifter Glosses, $8, and am wearing shade “Silk.” I own this formula in many shades and actually have a YouTube video you can visit to see my top 8 shades from the line and which one would be best for you! Watch it here.
