This One Trick To Elongate Your Body

Today’s outfit oozes classic, chic sophistication. It starts with a simple style formula: match your top to your bottom for a tonal, monochromatic outfit that lengthens and elongates your body. If you want to take this simple formula one step further, add a third layer that matches your color scheme. Voila! You have an outfit that follows all the style rules. But wait! Another style formula I love to incorporate is matching my top and bottom, then bringing a complementary color for my third layer. Camel and black is one of my all-time favorite color combinations for fall/winter.

2. Faux Leather Car Coat

Everyone should own a basic black tank, tee, or sweater, depending on the season. And a pair of black denim is a must-have wardrobe basic I reach for time and again when the temps start to dip. It was a no-brainer for me to put this outfit together in minutes, and it can be that simple for you too. One of my favorite brands for denim is Mother Jeans, thanks to an amazingly flattering and slim fit that’s oh so comfortable. Some suggest sizing up one size with Mother Jeans, but I stuck to my usual size of 29 and wasn’t disappointed. I also have the Huster Denim in White and Grey. Honestly, these jeans are worth every penny since they’re on style repeat!

Adding a third layer is a simple trick for instant style. It can be a blazer, cozy cardigan, vest, scarf, hat, statement necklace, or coat. The idea behind adding a third layer is that it takes an outfit from good to great. How gorgeous is this faux leather car coat by Halogen, a Nordstrom Made brand? I choose camel, but it’s available in black as well. (A longer jacket like this can elongate your body that much more.)
If you want to keep this outfit anchored in classic sophistication, add a pair of leopard pumps that tie directly to the color scheme. But if you’re wanting to add a trend, it’s as easy as switching your footwear from pumps to clogs. Platform clogs are all the rage this season, and I can’t say enough about this pair from Vince that comes in four colors ticks all the boxes with comfort to boot.
