Happy Thanksgiving from our house to yours! It’s always a good day when we can step back and give thanks so I’m especially thankful we have a holiday that does just that. A day when we can spend time with loved ones and a day to reflect on our many blessings.

In today’s world, it’s all too easy to become cynical when world events are thrown at us 24/7. But studies have shown regular expressions of gratitude are good for your soul and even decrease blood pressure and reduce anxiety and depression.

My hope is to bring a ray of sunshine to your lives day in and day out at Style at a Certain Age. Fashion, food, home decor, and beauty may sound trivial to some but I’ve always thought it’s but one way to add beauty to the world. Our homes are so much more than roofs over our heads. It’s a place of refuge and a place to call our own.

And I love to open my home to not only friends and family but my lovely readers - You. So this year I’m giving thanks for not only a place to call home, but my friends, family, good health, and my furry friends. Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to give thanks for all the things we already have!

Let the shopping begin! No, wait, the shopping has already begun by the likes of all the sales slung our way the past few weeks. Traditionally, Black Friday was the kick off to holiday shopping but I’m not sure when it starts or stops these days. Nevertheless, Kelly and I are sharing our 10 Black Friday Picks and we’ll have a few more for Cyber Monday too!

Amazon always has great deals but select Ray-Bans are on sale and they’re one of my favorite brands for sunnies. And Wüsthof Cutlery and Carving Sets are always great gifts!

Black Friday is here and rather than just being the Friday after Thanksgiving, it seems the shift has been made to “Black Friday Week.” This actually works out well for those of us who are not impulse buyers; with a whole week’s notice of Black Friday sale items, I had plenty of time to shop around, compare sales, and contemplate purchases.

Black Friday is the perfect time to pull the trigger on higher-priced items. With discounts of 50% off your entire order at J.Crew, 40% off your order at Madewell, and with Nordstrom, you can find between 30 and 60% off select items.
