as we cruise through January at a rapid clip, i’ve shared snippets of my home with you. first was my closet—my home away from home as a style/lifestyle blogger. then you caught a glimpse of my home office, where i while away the time answering emails, writing blog posts and creating new content for my YouTube channel. last week, we stopped by my living room that’s the setting for friends and family to gather and relax. and today we’re making a pitstop to my home gym. this is where you’ll find me on any given morning stretching, flexing, pumping iron and hopping on the bike for a spin class. i’m committed to continuing my health journey for the new year.
and guess what? no matter if i work out at home or head off to a Pilates class i like to wear the proper gear that helps me strike a yoga pose with the ease of movement needed. today, i’m partnering with Nordstrom and their inhouse brand Zella that carries an a-ma-zing selection of athletic wear that’s functional and stylish. at its heart, Zella athletic wear is designed with ultimate comfort innovation and peak performance technology that’s certain to enhance my workout and yours. now that’s a win/win in my book.

exercise is important at any age but especially as we age. but so many of us give up on exercising altogether at a certain age. so let’s go over the benefits of keeping fit even at sixty-one. because who doesn’t want to feel their best each and every day? exercise is key to keeping me in tip-top health. these are the workouts i incorporate into my daily routine.
strength training targets multiple muscle groups increases strength and builds lean muscle. yoga improves flexibility, perfects posture, betters bone health, builds muscle and on and on. cardio improves blood flow, increases stamina, and boosts your mood.
isn’t this tie-dye hoodie in purple hush adorable? definitely a mood brightener. it’s perfect to slip into when the gym temps are chilly and my body hasn’t quite adjusted. but sweatshirts look fantastic when paired with a humble pair of blue jeans for a relaxed weekend look. i’ve linked a few of my favorites below.
the floor is polished concrete which is sooooo easy to maintain. all you need is a mop and a broom. and i never have to worry about spills. the walls are painted a light grey.
there’s a television with a built-in DVD player that sits on a stand on one wall. i have a collection of videos that range from strength training to mat Pilates that keep me motivated and moving. recently, i added three yoga videos from Rodney Yee. flexibility and balance are so important to maintain as i move into my sixties.
a few key pieces of equipment include a step box and stability ball. they’re a great way to improve strength, endurance and balance. yep, balance and aging need to go hand-in-hand.
a big game-changer for me was investing in a Peloton bike. diagnosed with osteoarthritis, high-intensity workouts are a thing of the past for me. but that doesn’t mean i need to lead a sedentary life. instead, i focus on low impact workouts like a spin class that delivers an intense cardio workout that’s easy on my hips, knees, and ankles. most classes incorporate upper bodywork with the use of hand weights ( i use two pounders) as spin focuses mostly on the lower body. so in one 45-minute session, i can work on upper body, lower body, and core.
it’s important to stay hydrated all day long but especially when you’re working out.
leggings are perfect for spin class, Pilates and yoga. i love the high rise fit of these leggings and the jazzy print. a sports bra is a must-have as it gives the support we need when we’re moving and grooving. this racerback bra from Zella is soft with a smooth fit. but don’t forget a workout top that breathes and moves with your body is just as essential as leggings and a sports bra. this strength racerback top is a lightweight knit that keeps me cool and comfy and comes in three colors.
socks are key when working out. this pair are no show socks. but Zella carries other options as well like moisture-wicking socks with a cushioned tab or a mesh knit sock with a low profile cut.
there are a variety of weights in my home gym from two pounders that i use on the spin bike to twelve pounds. i even have a twenty-pound kettlebell that i hoist from time to time.
the workout bench is perfect for lifting weights.
all right, ladies, that’s a wrap of my home gym. let me know how you stay fit these days. and what is your favorite workout?
a big thank you to Nordstrom for this sponsored post. and thank you lovely ladies for supporting the brands that allow me to bring you fresh ideas.

Are you still doing Faster Way to Fat Loss? I committed recently and am enjoying all of their At-Home Work-outs. Their collection of work-outs makes it easy to have a variety of types of sessions at your finger tips!
Thanks for promoting it. So far, so good!
i love, love, love FWTFL. it was s big game changer for me. love their new APP.
Have you tried T-tapp? Might be something you’d want to add to your workouts. I stumbled across T-tapp about 12 years ago. Other workouts have distracted me over the years, but I keep returning to it. Went to a retreat after winning a contest for most inches lost. If you’re curious, there are T tapp videos on Youtube and tips on Facebook. They have wonderful customer service where you can email or speak to a trainer if you have a question. Am currently taking an online class with Wellness Jen. Fits into my schedule as most videos are about 15 minutes and all you need is a 3’x3′ space. Important to note: no tap dancing is involved. Tapp was the last name of the founder, Teresa Tapp. Am passionate about this workout, benefits and philosophy – I don’t receive compensation for sharing this info: just health benefits and being part of a community of like minded people.
Hi, Beth. So admire your focus and diligence! Wise you are to maintain your good health. I use the Body Blade and simply follow a YouTube 12.5 minute Marina Del Rey Beach Workout. Works for me! Bought a Cubii Jr in December and loving what it does for my legs. They feel stronger after I “bike” while watching TV. This is what’s helping me move…and I’m older than you! Here’s to all ladies out there–do it for yourself. Your success is a gift to those you love!~
I’d love to follow you on Peloton! My name is #TrifectaQueen. The bike has been a game changer for me.
I love Zella leggings for workouts. I have 3 pairs that I bought about 8 months ago, they get washed every week and still look like new.
What a great workout room. You’re doing all the right things. I have been moving as much as I can and need to up my weights game more–I think I’m at the point where I do need to use heavier weights. Having things accessible right at home is huge–I love walking long distances (and I’m fast) but having things right at home to help motivate us is wonderful. Good for you! Keep it up–you look great.
