oscar is off to the vet this week for an annual checkup and yearly booster shots. wait a minute, did you say shots? ummm, can we home? there’s a vague recollection of where we are…
o – kay, if you insist. besides, is there a choice in the matter? if it’s all the same to you i’d rather be home playing with ollie. she might be missing me already. is there a chance we can skip this appointment? no dice?
nope. no dice, buddy. but you’re good. you’ve done this before. remember, what happens when you behave? the vet stocks a lovely selection of toys.
toys? well, come to think of it i do like picking out a new toy. maybe it’ll be okay after all.
denim | sweater | similar suede jacket | mules | similar backpack
after our visit i’m happy to report all is well in oscar’s world. he came through his checkup with flying colors. and i have to say we have a wonderful vet with an amazing staff that takes good care of oscar and ollie. on that happy note, oscar and i wish each of you a lovely weekend.
is the Founder and CEO of Style at a Certain Age. She writes Sundays-Fridays on all topics ranging from fashion, health, wellness, home design and more.
She’s 65, 5’8, and size 8.
On the last picture when you are holding the toy it seems that Oscar is smiling so happy!!!
Oscar in chair: sooo serious! Oh well, buddy. It’s over for another year.
yup, no boosters for awhile. but he did look down and out didn’t he?
xo
What a good boy! – I love seeing the serious Oscar before the exam and the happy Oscar looking over the toys afterwards. Enjoy a wonderful weekend!
hi rebecca! are you surviving winter? oscar has been enjoying his new toy all weekend. now that the stuffing is strewed everywhere we might have to retire this purchase sooner rather than later.
xo
Oscar can look so pitiful…..then the toys! I find that I am like that too…dont like the bad stuff in life, but the joys make it worthwhile!!!
isn’t oscar a hoot? love how he dropped his head low and flashed that pitiful look. but all’s well that end’s well. hope you enjoyed your weekend.

I hear you, Oscar–I give myself weekly shots and they’re definitely not my favorite thing. Cute outfit–I like the caramel color. Have a great weekend! Sun’s out here today and it’s beautiful out. I’ll take it.
those dang shots are the worst sue! mr. style can commiserate with you.
we’ll take those sunny days. i don’t now about your neck of the woods but we have had rain and more rain.

Oscar you look great. You make me smile looking your pictures.
isn’t he a handsome boy?! and what a great personality. what would we do without our pets?
xo
Oscar is a beautiful Shepherd. Our dogs are certainly our hairy children, but they give us unconditional love. My Asia, a rescue, is 14 years old and trembles every time we go to the vet. She is so smart, sometimes too smart for her own good. Love your suede coat! Enjoy the weekend.
hi peggy! what would we do without our pets?! they have so much to teach us like unconditional love. and they never hold a grudge. i’m so happy you own a lovely rescue dog. i’m certain Asia knows what a great home she has.

A vet who is a marketer…… Offer them the toy shop and can add that to the bill……. Love to know what Oscar chose as his bribe for being a good and compliant patient
our vet is one brilliant man! and mr. style and i are two big suckers.

Yum … that jacket and that color are so inviting. Love the gray with it … will have to try that myself.
isn’t this a scrumptious color?! love brown and grey. it’s a color combo seen frequently in menswear.

A couple of weeks ago I sent a comment about your jackets looking like they are too small but never got a reply. Now, I have a new question – I notice you often role your pant legs even if it’s just the smallest bit. What is the reason for this? I like your blog and read others’ comments but would like to see your responses to some of these, including mine. Thank you and continued success.
hi lynn,
the only other comment that’s on record from you was on ‘fitness journey.’ that comment was in regards to ootd (outfit of the day) not about my jackets looking like they are too small. it appears that on that blog post all comments were answered. hmmmm. but i do get behind with replies from time-to-time as readers are kind enough to leave comments on all social media channels: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube. it’s amazing to hear from all of you!
as for the fit of jackets a well-fitted shoulder should lie flat. if the seam that connects the sleeve to the jacket is hiked up along your shoulder bone, or dangling down on your upper bicep, the jacket is never going to sit properly. in these instances, you’ll see “ripple effects” that create lumps or wrinkles on the sleeve and the top of the jacket.
shoulders are one of the hardest parts of a jacket to adjust after construction, so don’t buy a piece with an ill-fitted shoulder. odds are you’ll never be able to get it quite right with post-purchase alterations. always look for a jacket that fits your shoulders. then you should either be able to button or zip the jacket. typically, i wear my jackets unzipped or unbuttoned so they do fall open when i move. but, they do indeed comfortably zip or button.
cuffing or rolling denim is simply a style choice. and there are a variety of ways to roll your cuffs depending on the denim choice. if it suits your fancy to cuff your jeans then go for it. if it doesn’t strike a chord with you then don’t. style is all about personal choices.
hope this helps.
Thank you for you quick reply. Just checking on jeans since I’m tall and finding them long enough to cuff is not always an option.
