it’s time to bake cookies and it looks as if i have a helper (or two). this time of year the house always smells sooooo good thanks to batches of snickerdoodles baking in the oven. spritz cookies are mr. style’s favorite but i’m always flipping through cookbooks and magazines to find one or two new recipes.
this year, i discovered grinch cookies that are easy to make thanks to a box of vanilla cake mix. and my kiddos loved to read “The Grinch Stole Christmas” so this was a no-brainer to add to my must-make list. shortcuts are always helpful this time of year! and i love gifting boxes of homemade cookies to the postman, UPS driver, or anyone else that i might want to say, “thank you.” please don’t tell me this is a dying art as there is nothing i love more than a homemade gift.
earlier this week i shared my love of sewing. during the weeks that surrounded christmas my sewing machine whirred at breakneck speed whipping up coasters filled with cinnamon sticks, jewelry pouches or ornaments. what a beautiful time of year this truly is. time to step back and think of others. i also loved to bake pumpkin bread, wrap it in red or green cellophane and tie it with a pretty bow. gifts never have to be fancy in my opinion. but they are such a thoughtful gesture.
hmmm, looks as if one of my helpers has been diverted. oscar, what do you have to say about that?
well, there’s never a dull moment in our house these days. but i’m headed out the door for an errand or two and leaving these two to their own devices…red skirt, black cashmere crewneck and buffalo plaid shirt peeking underneath are the key components of today’s ootd. but the temps have been chilly this past week so i popped a houndstooth cashmere scarf similar here over a puffer vest similar here. and, hey, i’m wearing tights today with over the knee boots to keep me toasty warm. when it was time for oscar’s walk i noticed that otk boots really do keep the chill at bay.

here’s the recipe for the grinch cookies. it’s not a big batch but they are soft and moist and yummy!
on that happy note oscar, ollie and i wish each of you a lovely weekend!

Thanks for the reminder that homemade gifts are great!! I appreciate the ideas and the recipe, which my grandkids will love! Your outfit looks terrific, as always!! đ Wish you were my personal stylist!! Happy weekend!
i hope you made these delicious cookies with your grandchildren, sheri! i think the Grinch is still a favorite. xo
Of course!! Delicious!! The Grinch is still one of the first movies we watch at the holidays, both the animated original and the Jim Carrey version đ
I intend to spend a good bit of this weekend baking–I don’t really eat them any more, but I do the same–put gifts together for folks. And I make a mean toffee that people love, so I’ll do some little bags of that, too. I love the outfit and boots! Your helpers look intrigued. Enjoy!
what cookies popped out of the oven, sue? and toffee?! my favorite.
xo
I made peanut-butter/chocolate truffles, raspberry thumbprint cookies, toffee, and salted caramel turtle thumbprint cookies! Lots of goodies to spread around at work and for neighbors. Check these out: https://www.cookingclassy.com/salted-caramel-turtle-thumbprint-cookies/
