there’s something special about slipping into my old-time classics – a comfy pair of blue jeans, a cable knit sweater, and a toasty quilted jacket to keep me warm. and no one does classic style like ralph lauren. yes, those fall-like temps have returned and i love the chill that’s in the air ‘cuz that means one thing – sweater weather.
is there anything quite like watching the sun rise over the tops of the trees as it ushers in another day? it’s spectacular! as a young girl, i wasn’t much of a morning person. who cared about sunrises or catching that worm those early birds were supposed to get. give me midnight oil to burn as i was just ramping up about then. so you can imagine those near and dear to me would kindly wait until noonish before uttering a good day to me. it’s hard to get it in gear when you’re running on five hours of sleep. oh sure, my mother offered a piping hot cup of coffee come my high school years to help rev my engine. but she was from the generation that drank their joe black and bitter and from a can. ugh.
when my children appeared in my life it was time to re-evaluate that whole late-night persona i was so fond of. what is it about five am and toddlers? they go together like peanut butter and jelly. with great reluctance, i decided if my kiddos were up and at ’em at the crack of dawn their momster might as well be too… coffee became my new best friend but this time around i decided i could brew it anyway i wanted. plus, i could add cream to my java. or more to the point a little coffee with my cream. yes, thanks to coffee, and more than one cup, my children and i successfully navigated through their childhood. and guess who got hooked?

these days, i love greeting another day about 6ish in the morning. and oscar loves to help! some days i hit the gym right after my feet hit the ground. other days it’s a walk with my best buddy. but there’s nothing better than a whiff of properly brewed coffee. and i love those coffee shops you can frequent or take your turn in the drive-through lane. there’s lots of them like starbucks, peet’s, nespresso, caribou or my favorite local joint – jittery joe’s. the baristas are trained to tailor your drink any which way you like – hot, iced or blended. tall, grande or short. nonfat, soymilk, and half-and-half. latte, cappuccino, mocha or espresso. who doesn’t love choices?
so let’s get this friday underway. but first, coffee.
oscar and i wish each of you a lovely weekend!

You do that country woman thing so well, I love it. Well, you do city well too. I have to say, I love Oscar, especially with all four paws off the ground! Good weekend.
What a great shot of Oscar leaping off the ground. The scenery around you looks lovely for an afternoon of wandering.
Oh that jacket does bring Fall to mind. It is my favorite season, the colors, trees, cool temps. Beautiful. Coming from a Scandinavian family there was always a fresh pot of coffee on the stove and I love it through all four seasons.
Have a great weekend–we’re also having beautiful weather here. Love the jacket. Hope you get to relax some. It’s gorgeous weather for it.
I’,m so glad you have him. I am sure he is a great companion. I love his flying act in the one picture. I had a cocker spaniel/german sheppard mix..He was the best dog there ever was. Kind, protective, loyal, gentle, smart…just the best..and so pretty, too <3 You both look great and yes, love Ralph Lauren. Enjoy your together time <3
