there’s no snow on the ground here in georgia, but old man winter has paid a visit bringing frigid temps with him. brrrrr! out came a hat, gloves, and the cutest puffer jacket with ruffles and velvet trim from Talbots. it’s lightweight but warm. from the looks of the weather forecast, it’ll be getting lots of action the next week or so.
when i bopped into my local Talbots on the hunt for a casual coat, i noticed a pair of blue jeans that are similar to the Ralph Lauren patchwork denim i’m wearing today. take a look here. the Talbots version doesn’t have as many patches, but that may work for some of you. just a thought. for today’s ootd i added a pop of red with a plaid shirt tucked underneath my navy blue crewneck. but the star of the show is my snazzy new loafers from Everlane my new style crush. stay tuned as you’ll be seeing more of this modern classic brand on the blog.

Beth, at what point does style give way to comfort and practicality? I live in Georgia and it IS quite cold and I cringe to see you out in flats with no foot protection…it’s warm socks and wool clogs for me!
good point. the two go hand in hand. and believe me, having grown up in the midwest trudging through snowbanks and baring frigid temps i know when to put on those socks boots. but i also know that even when you live in minnesota there are times when you don those sandals in january and run from the bar to the car. but hey, warm socks and clogs sound comfy and cozy.

Agreed–it would be great to see fashion acknowledge practicality, which is that most of us need to wear socks or tights for part of the year!
well, i also have readers write in and share that the high in their neck of the woods is 80 degrees. i guess if the shoe fits wear it. if not, tweak the outfit according to your climate.

Oscar is color-coordinating his outfit! The velcro on his coat even looks like the patchwork on your pants, Beth. He’s the new Mr. Style II.
oscar has a style game all his own! thanks for noticing.

Really like the details on the jacket! Very nice casual look today. Being warm is important!
i thought so too! loved the ruffled pockets.

Beth, I would like to know if you wear white jeans in the winter months or observe no white after labor day.
